Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>ADRA’s general director, Carlos Cambuta, reiterated the need for the country to move quickly towards the implementation of local authorities, with a view to overcoming the excessive dependence of local structures on central ones and ensuring successful implementation of public policies.<\/b><\/p>\n

The person in charge defended this position at the opening of the 25th Training Module in Community Development of the Action for Rural Development and Environment (ADRA), which brings together, in this city, staff from the organization from the provinces of Malanje, Cunene, Huila and Luanda.<\/p>\n

He recognized the process of administrative deconcentration and decentralization carried out by the Executive and which has resulted in the transfer of functions and competencies from central to local structures.<\/p>\n

Despite this, the general director considered that the impact on families’ lives is still small.<\/p>\n

He cited as an example the school lunch program which, despite being the responsibility of municipal administrations, does not cover all children in vulnerable situations, in addition to the fact that meals are being distributed intermittently during the week.<\/p>\n

He reinforced that the implementation of local authorities is necessary to promote local development.<\/p>\n

Lasting five days, the 25th Training Module in Community Development will review the recommendations from the 24th Module, as well as analyze the political, economic and social reality of the country, agro-forestry systems, among other issues.<\/p>\n

It should be remembered that the National Assembly of Angola unanimously approved, on the 23rd of this month, the bill on the institutionalization of local authorities, proposed by UNITA.<\/p>\n

Of the 13 Laws that make up the Municipal legislative package, 10 have already been approved.<\/p>\n
