Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The voice of the President of the Republic of Angola, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, is heard and respected in the African Union (AU), reflected in the most important decisions adopted that determine the future of the continent.<\/b><\/p>\n

The statement was made by Angola’s permanent representative to the AU, Miguel Ce\u0301sar Bembe, in an exclusive interview recently, where, among other issues, he discussed the designation of the Angolan Head of State as Champion of the African Union for Peace and Reconciliation in Africa.<\/p>\n

Tuesday, marks two years since President Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o was named champion of peace at the Extraordinary Summit on Terrorism and Unconstitutional Changes of Government, held on May 28, 2022, in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea.<\/p>\n

For the Angolan ambassador to Ethiopia, the Angolan Executive has sought to play an increasingly active and assertive role in the African Union.<\/p>\n

He recalled that, taking into account global recognition, the country has reached top levels in terms of authority and credibility in addressing issues relating to the culture of peace, the peaceful resolution of conflicts, national reconciliation and security,<\/p>\n

Miguel Ce\u0301sar Bembe pointed out as proof that for the fourth time, Angola assumes a mandate as a member of the Peace and Security Council of the continental organization, as it appears essential to embrace initiatives that aim to consolidate peace and security in Africa, and increase prestige and the country’s influence, given its experience in this matter.<\/p>\n

The presence, he said, of Angolan staff in the AU structures also contributes to strengthening and consolidating the country’s influence in the continental organization, with a specific national strategy being relevant for this purpose.<\/p>\n

Regarding the annual rotating presidency of the AU in 2025, he highlighted that it is a reflection of the strong dynamics of Angolan diplomacy, led by Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, President of the Republic of Angola.<\/p>\n

Two years later, President Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o has revealed himself to be a \u201ctireless worker\u201d in his thorny mission of permanently searching for solutions to the various conflicts, political and armed, that afflict the continent.<\/p>\n

Likewise, and as President-in-Office of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (CIRGL), Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o was mandated, also by the AU, to ensure mediation in the crisis between the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and the Rwanda.<\/p>\n

Since then, the Angolan capital has become the scene of constant diplomatic movements, with the entry and exit of foreign delegations at various levels, as if an unavoidable passage along the paths of the \u201cAfrican Pax\u201d.<\/p>\n

In other words, Angola became \u201ca turning point for political consultations\u201d on the African continent, according to observers attentive to the development of African diplomacy.<\/p>\n
