Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Workers in the Transport sector and the administrations of the various companies and institutes under their supervision meet, in Lobito, province of Benguela, between the 6th and 8th of June.<\/b><\/p>\n

This communication was made available on Tuesday, via an announcement, which explains the holding of the XV Consultative Council during that period.<\/p>\n

The event chose as its motto “Consolidating Reforms in the Sector and Enhancing Angola as a Regional Transport and Logistics Hub\u201d.<\/p>\n

Last week, during an event, held in the province of Namibe, on the challenges of the local port sector, minister Ricardo Viegas d’Abreu made it known that with the contribution of the Port of Namibe, the South Region will become one of the shining stars economic diversification and collective development in Angola.<\/p>\n

The minister made these reflections when he addressed, on Saturday, words of appreciation and encouragement to the entire collective of workers at the Port of Namibe, private partners and concessionaires, companies and guests present at the first Forum on the Port’s Value Chain, one day after its opening, via videoconference, depending on your absence due to calendar reasons (work reasons).<\/p>\n

For Ricardo Viegas de Abreu, the Port of Namibe, which has a privileged strategic position, is the largest port infrastructure and the third most important in the country, and was the only maritime exit gateway to countries such as Zambia, Botswana, and also for a considerable part of Namibia.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is like no other in Angola, having a strong natural exploration vocation, which makes it a national port, through which the majority of national exports circulate,\u201d he compared.<\/p>\n

The minister said that the Port of Namibe has land access, both by road and by rail, with connections to the eastern interior of the country and the borders of neighboring countries, namely Namibia and Zambia, whose sole objective is to provide cargo and unloading of merchandise at its port premises.<\/p>\n

It has already exceeded the amount of cargo handled during the period throughout 2023, a positive assessment of 12 percent, which corresponds to a movement of 275 thousand tons, accumulated from January to March.<\/p>\n

He also spoke about the rehabilitation of the pier carried out recently, for whom he certainly contributed to this “good\u201d performance. The implementation of the Moc\u0327a\u0302medes Bay Integrated Development Project, which incorporates the rehabilitation of the Sacomar Terminal and the construction of a new containers, for the Minister of Transport, certainly, too, which will contribute to achieving higher and more relevant numbers.<\/p>\n
