Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>A group of 55 students and teachers from the French School of Luanda concluded, this Friday, a scientific excursion to the city of Mbanza Kongo, province of Zaire, where they learned about the historical past of the former capital of the Kingdom of Kongo.<\/b><\/p>\n

For three days, the excursionists visited some historical sites and monuments that make up the historical-cultural mosaic of this World Heritage city, namely Kulumbimbi, the Cemetery of the Kings of Kongo, the Yala Nkuwu tree, the Museum of the Kingdom of Kongo and Tady dia Bukikwa.<\/p>\n

Some members of the caravan were impressed by the historical, cultural and tourist potential of the region.<\/p>\n

Communication teacher at the French School, Sandra Serrepuy, defended the monetization of Mbanza Kongo’s historical sites and monuments to raise revenue.<\/p>\n

He considered tourism as one of the important sectors in collecting revenue and generating more jobs.<\/p>\n

For Bartolomeu Patrick, a student, contact with the Historic Center of Mbanza Kongo aims to combine theory with practice on the knowledge of the history of Angola, acquired in the classroom.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m excited to be in Mbanza Kongo and experience what I only learned about in history books,\u201d he expressed.<\/p>\n

The excursion, the 4th that the French School of Luanda carries out in the city of Mbanza Kongo, included, in addition to students of Angolan, Portuguese, French, Bissau-Guinean nationality and Italian descent.<\/p>\n

The group’s coordinator, Avewangwana Pedro, said that visits to the Historic Center of Mbanza Kongo by 10th grade students are already part of the curriculum plan at the French School of Luanda.<\/p>\n

During their stay in Mbanza Kongo, the excursionists also visited the Nzaue\u0301-Evua caves, located in the Nkiende commune, as well as the Tuku Polytechnic Institute.<\/p>\n
