{"id":63974,"date":"2024-06-05T02:45:31","date_gmt":"2024-06-05T02:45:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/angola\/all-news\/politicians-reiterate-support-for-preserving-peace"},"modified":"2024-06-05T03:55:11","modified_gmt":"2024-06-05T03:55:11","slug":"politicians-reiterate-support-for-preserving-peace","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/angola\/all-news\/politicians-reiterate-support-for-preserving-peace","title":{"rendered":"Politicians reiterate support for preserving peace"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Angola. <\/strong><\/span><b>Political party officials reiterated, last weekend, in the province of Cunene, the continued promotion of actions aimed at preserving peace and strengthening the country&#8217;s socioeconomic stability.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Regarding the 33rd anniversary of the Bicesse agreements, marked on May 31st, they recalled that the date marked an event of greater significance, opening the way for the end of the armed conflict in the country.<\/p>\n<p>For the secretary of the PRS in Cunene, Miguel Ndapewovano, the Bicesse Accords were a patriotic demonstration among Angolans who at the time felt the need to end the war.<\/p>\n<p>He recalled that after the negative effects of the war, on April 4, 2002, peace was achieved, allowing peaceful coexistence, an asset that must be preserved for the well-being of Angolans.<\/p>\n<p>Miguel Ndapewovano said that to dignify the importance of the date, youth must cultivate patriotism, principles and values \u200b\u200bof an exemplary citizen, so that the situation of the past does not happen again in the national territory.<\/p>\n<p>For the secretary of UNITA, Torga Pangeiko, the Bicesse Agreements represented the beginning of the change from the single-party system, giving way to multi-partyism, with the main objective of building the democratic state of law.<\/p>\n<p>Torga Pangeiko said that the patriotism and political courage of the parties to the conflict were decisive in opting for the route of direct dialogue, cementing national reconciliation, establishing a democratic regime and building a free nation.<\/p>\n<p>In turn, the representative of the Council of Christian Churches Angola (CICA) in Cunene, Joa\u0303o Gimbi, said that the conflict caused a lot of damage, hence the advice is for everyone to work towards maintaining peace.<\/p>\n<p>The reverend highlighted the need to walk together on the path to peace, materializing the Government&#8217;s various projects and offering new generations an increasingly better nation.<\/p>\n<p>The Bicesse Accords, also known as the Estoril Accords, was an agreement on ceasefire, national reconciliation and transition to multiparty democracy, concluded between the government of Angola and the then guerrilla group UNITA.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/angola\">Angola<\/a> Follow <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/\">Africa-Press<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Angola.
