Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The opening of the Santa Clara and Oshikango border posts for 24 hours a day, starting last Friday, will allow for the intensification of commercial exchanges and the free movement of people and goods, within the framework of existing cooperation between Angola and Namibia.<\/b><\/p>\n

According to the Angolan ambassador to Namibia, Jovelina Imperial, the initiative is a great opportunity for businesspeople from both countries to make the most of increasing the growth of trade and the economy.<\/p>\n

When speaking at the opening ceremony of these border posts, the Angolan diplomat said that this step helps to ensure that economic relations are increasingly closer and strengthened, demonstrating an environment of cooperation, friendship and solidarity between the parties.<\/p>\n

According to Jovelina Imperia, the population will have enough time to visit their families, do business, take care of their health and increase the level of social development of the communities of both peoples.<\/p>\n

The opening act of the aforementioned borders was co-chaired by the Angolan Minister of the Interior, Euge\u0301nio Laborinho, and the Minister of Internal Affairs, Immigration, Protection and Security of the Republic of Namibia, Albert Kawana.<\/p>\n

Santa Clara\u2019s border post is considered one of the points that records the highest volume of trade, especially food, clothing, animal feed, telecommunications material and equipment for the mining sector.<\/p>\n

The Bilateral Agreement on the Movement of People and Goods between Angola and Namibia was signed in 1992, aiming to observe interdependence, interpersonal ties and shared cultural heritage along the common border, as well as free movement within a radius of 60 kilometers.<\/p>\n

The province of Cunene shares 460 kilometers of border with the Republic of Namibia, of which 340 are land and 120 are river.<\/p>\n
