Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The leader of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Angola thanked, yesterday, in Luanda, the State for the religious freedom it has given to its citizens.<\/b><\/p>\n

Teixeira Vinte said that the Seventh Day Church will bring together more than 12 thousand members, on the occasion of the congregation’s centenary celebrations, which began yesterday and the highest point is the day after tomorrow, in the province of Huambo.<\/p>\n

The Church, he said, intends to focus more on education in the coming months, from basic to higher education. The congregation, he announced, has several school structures, but many are not fully operational. “For this reason, the Adventist Education Network was created to improve the situation in all schools,” he stressed, adding that among the goals for the coming years is the expansion of the Advent Radio signal throughout the country.<\/p>\n

Social projects<\/p>\n

The pastor also announced the construction of a reception center in the Dangereux neighborhood, in addition to carrying out work to rescue prostitutes in the Zango neighborhood, where they already work with more than 150 girls, in a project called “Brilliant Girls\u201d.<\/p>\n

Most girls are taken off the streets and prepared for reintegration into society, where they learn professional courses, such as Cutting and Sewing, Decoration and Cooking.<\/p>\n

Millions of faithful<\/p>\n

The Seventh-day Adventist Church in Angola has registered 700 thousand baptized members and more than two million unbaptized. Worldwide, he explained, there are more than 22 million Adventists. Based on the numbers, Teixeira Vinte considers the balance of the congregation’s hundred years in the country to be positive. As a representative of the Church in Angola, the pastor clarified that this separation of regions was made due to administrative management, due to the high growth of the faithful, whereas, previously, there was only one department located in the province of Huambo, but which did not cover the country, therefore, there was a need to create the Northeast and Southwest union, with the same leadership at SADC level, with headquarters in Pretoria.<\/p>\n
