Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The government of Cuanza-Norte reaffirms its commitment to the preservation of more than 20 registered and classified monuments and sites in the province, as it understands that they witnessed relevant events in our history.<\/b><\/p>\n

The head of the Department of Culture, Rosa Carlos, said that work was underway to identify more historical places, adding that the province of Cuanza-Norte has many other places that need to be known and studied in order to be equally elevated to national heritage.<\/p>\n

According to sociologist L\u00facio Marques, monuments and sites establish a working relationship between man and nature, thus constituting true tourist areas, which is why he defends the involvement of all in the preservation of historical heritage.<\/p>\n

Of the more than 20 monuments and sites currently classified and unclassified in Cuanza-Norte, by the National Institute of Cultural Heritage, eight of which are located in the municipality of Cambambe, with the exception of the Santo Ant\u00f3nio de Cahenda Church (Samba-Caj\u00fa).<\/p>\n

Also noteworthy are the fortress in Massangano, the residential area of \u200b\u200bthe Cambambe dam and the churches of Nossa Senhoras do Ros\u00e1rio and Vit\u00f3ria, built in the 16th century, the ruins of the Massangano Court and the Royal Iron Factory of Nova Oeiras, 18th century, royal foundation tower, where the first cannons were made for the Portuguese troops, as well as the Cruzeiro and house “Casa dos Bentes”.<\/p>\n

The Church of Nossa Senhora da Vit\u00f3ria, which is about 40 kilometers northwest of the city of Dondo, is currently being recovered, under the aegis of the Catholic Mission.<\/p>\n
