Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>President Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o announced Thursday the rehabilitation of the Eucaliptos Stadium and the Sporting do Bie\u0301 Pavilion, infrastructures belonging to this club located in Cuito city, central Bie\u0301 province.<\/b><\/p>\n

The information was disclosed by the Bie\u0301 governor, Pereira Alfredo, at the end of the Head of State’s two-day working visit to this central\/southern region of the country.<\/p>\n

According to the governor, the president noted the state of these infrastructures, which are in a state of disrepair, and promised to order their rehabilitation to provide better conditions for sports activities in the region.<\/p>\n

Taking stock of the President’s visit, Pereira Alfredo said this is a very good announcement for sports lovers, especially Sporting do Bie\u0301, which has been in existence for 109 years.<\/p>\n

“The Eucaliptos stadium hosts all local football matches, both provincial and national, hence the urgency of its rehabilitation.<\/p>\n

Its pavilion has hosted several competitions, both provincial and national, in various sports.<\/p>\n

Without giving any dates for the work to begin, the governor stressed that the local government would be working on the project from this month.<\/p>\n

Reacting to the announcement, the president of Sporting do Bie\u0301, Paulo Jorge Capama, said that the infrastructure needed to be completely renovated.<\/p>\n

Founded on May 3, 1915, Sporting Clube Petro\u0301leos do Bie\u0301 has nearly 600 athletes in football, basketball, handball, athletics, gymnastics and volleyball.<\/p>\n

The club had its team in the First Division National Championship (Girabola), in 1989, 2000 and 2005.<\/p>\n

The club still has a valid contract with the oil company Total Energies, however the company has not paid any money for over six years, although there are promises that it will be reactivated. It currently has 635 members.<\/p>\n
