Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Mineral Terminal of the Port of Lobito, in Benguela, received, on Friday, the first large ship loaded with 40,500 tons of sulfur, to support mining activity in the Katanga region, in the Democratic Republic of Congo.<\/b><\/p>\n

According to a press release, the bulk cargo ship MVLindsaylou marks the start of port operations for LAR \u2013 Lobito Atlantic Railway, the concessionaire for the Lobito Corridor, with its docking.<\/p>\n

The ship, according to the release, was loaded in Qatar, from where it departed approximately a month ago bound for Lobito.<\/p>\n

The unloading operations will use the necessary means to ensure that all environmental and safety procedures are followed, namely the automatic filling of large bags (big bags) using two automatic hoppers designed and manufactured in Angola, according to the statement.<\/p>\n

The unloading and storage of the cargo will be carried out entirely using LAR resources, using local labor and national equipment.<\/p>\n

“Once again, we have made history! And once again we have proven that the use of state infrastructure by private entities is the best way to create jobs, wealth and development”, wrote the Minister of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, Diamantino Azevedo, on his LinkedIn social network.<\/p>\n

According to the minister, this is the shortest way to accelerate the diversification of the economy and regional integration between Angola and its neighbouring countries.<\/p>\n
