Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Luanda’s health system is gradually being relieved thanks to the construction of several hospitals inside and outside the capital, president Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o said Friday, after inaugurating the Cacuaco \u201cHero\u0301is de Kifangondo\u201d General Hospital.<\/b><\/p>\n

According to the president, due to the density of the population and the pressure it received from neighboring provinces, there was a need to invest in the construction of new hospital infrastructures in Luanda.<\/p>\n

In addition to the Cacuaco General Hospital, inaugurated Friday, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o highlighted the entry into operation of the Viana General Hospital and the \u201cNeves Bendinha\u201d Burn Hospital two months ago.<\/p>\n

The president also mentioned the recent inauguration of the Bengo referral hospital, whose patients no longer come to Luanda in search of specialized medical care.<\/p>\n

In order to relieve Luanda’s reference hospitals, including Josina Machel, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o recalled that the rehabilitation and expansion of the Cajueiros hospital, in Cazenga municipality, has been planned, in addition to the delivery of the Ame\u0301rico Boavida Hospital, which is currently being given a facelift.<\/p>\n

The portfolio of projects, said the Head of State, also includes the commissioning of the hospital under construction in the Morro Bento area, the new Hospital for Burned People, in the Kilamba Centrality, and the Oncology Center.<\/p>\n

Patients from Cuanza Norte and Cuanza Sul will no longer have to seek reference health services in the capital, with the general hospitals in Ndalatando and Sumbe coming into operation this year.<\/p>\n

With a population of around six million people, the capital Luanda has nine municipalities.<\/p>\n
