Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Mozambican citizens in Angola and vice versa now have easier access to ombudsmen for the consolidation of their rights, freedoms and guarantees.<\/b><\/p>\n

The facility follows an agreement signed yesterday in Luanda between the Angolan Ombudsman, Florbela Ara\u00fajo, and her Mozambican counterpart, Isaque Chande.<\/p>\n

According to a note from the Angolan Ombudsman’s Office, the agreement, with 11 clauses, is renewable annually, with the expression of both parties or changes in circumstances.<\/p>\n

“For the parties, this act means reinforcing the sharing of knowledge and exchange of experiences for the intensification of the institutional relationship to better serve the citizens”, reads the note.<\/p>\n

With this document, he adds, the citizens of both countries can count on more ease and support in solving their concerns resulting from dealing with the Public Administration, whether by action or omission.<\/p>\n

The agreement signed yesterday is part of the celebration of the 17th anniversary of the institutionalization of the Angolan Ombudsman, marked on the 19th of this month. The activities alluding to the ephemeris last until the 28th.<\/p>\n

Complaints in Malange<\/b><\/p>\n

In all, 30 requests for intermediation in matters related to salary and social security arrears, as well as incorrect framing of pensioners, were received by the provincial services of the Ombudsman’s Office in Malanje this year.<\/p>\n

Of the complaints received, five have been resolved and the rest are being processed, informed yesterday the head of the provincial services of the Ombudsman’s Office, Manuel Campo, after leaving a meeting with the Catholic archbishop in Malanje, D. Luzizila Kiala, in the of Provider Week.<\/p>\n

The official said that the local population has resorted to the services of the Ombudsman’s Office to defend their rights, freedoms and guarantees, as a result of lectures that the body has given since its establishment in Malanje, in December last year.<\/p>\n

He encouraged citizens to continue to look for these services, whenever they see their rights threatened or in a situation of delay in resolving a case under the jurisdiction of the Justice bodies.<\/p>\n

Regarding the meeting with the archbishop of Malanje, Manuel Campo said that it aimed to define cooperation strategies in the field of protection of citizens’ rights, with emphasis on children, taking into account the increase in crimes against minors.<\/p>\n

At the meeting, he added, it was also agreed to disclose the mandate and role of the Ombudsman in the media linked to the Catholic Church.<\/p>\n

The Ombudsman is an independent public body whose purpose is to defend the rights, freedoms and guarantees of citizens, ensuring, through informal means, the justice and legality of the Public Administration.<\/p>\n
