Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>\u201cThe Bantu in Mafrano\u2019s vision\u201d is the title of the book by Maur\u00edcio Francisco Caetano to be published posthumously on May 14, at 10:30 am, in the auditorium of the Catholic University building, in Largo das Escolas, in Luanda.<\/b><\/p>\n

Born in 1916 and died in 1982, the author is the son of Mariana Jos\u00e9 Marcolino, a domestic, born in Dondo, and Francisco Jo\u00e3o Caetano, a tailor, originally from Cambambe. He was born in Dondo, the land where he did his primary studies, later continuing his studies at the Seminary of Luanda where he studied Philosophy and Theology. He began his professional career as an administrative aspirant, reconciling his activity with teaching and promoting the cultural value of Angolan social anthropology.<\/p>\n

He joined the Finance and Accounting Services, in the colonial era, which later passed to the Ministry of Finance, with the independence of Angola, in November 1975, having reached the position of Director until the time of his death, in 1982. .<\/p>\n

As a writer, he was a contributor to several newspapers and publications – notably O Apostolado, Revista Angola, O Angolense, Tribuna dos Muceques – using the best known pseudonyms “Mafrano” and “Anateco”.<\/p>\n

He was professor of Portuguese Language and Philosophy at Col\u00e9gio 28 de Maio, Instituto Makarenko, Liceu Ngola Kiluanje, Escola 1\u00ba de Maio and Instituto Pio XII (now ICRA – “Institute of Religious Sciences of Angola”). prominent figure in Angolan society when the first black Angolan bishop was ordained: Dom Eduardo Andr\u00e9 Muaca.<\/p>\n

It was the now defunct Instituto Nacional do Livro e do Disco (INALD), through a collection called “The letter” that, in early 1986, recovered a beautiful short story by this writer for the first issue of this collection: “O Menino Lu\u00eds Irm\u00e3o de Jo\u00e3o Cassabalo\u201d.<\/p>\n

It is an overview of some of the ethnic, social and political issues that took place in the daily life of the city of Dondo in the first third of the 20th century, which, everything leads to believe, the author attended. Early on, he describes some of the suburban neighborhoods of his birthplace, Dondo.<\/p>\n

The author has published the books “Angolan Onomastics: Nzinga ou Nginga?” (1976); “Menino Lu\u00eds Irm\u00e3o de Jo\u00e3o Cassabalo”, edition of INALD (1986); “Idiomas Nacionais: Kimbundu” (1976); “Notes a Pencil”, chronicles scattered in newspapers and magazines, and “Cr\u00f3nicas Ligeiras”.<\/p>\n
