Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The CEO of the Moc\u0327a\u0302medes Railway (CFM), Anto\u0301nio Coelho da Cruz, on Wednesday in South Africa, highlighted the economic potential of the \u201cSouthern Corridor\u201d (Namibe, Hui\u0301la and Cuando Cubango) to attract new investment and boost it.<\/b><\/p>\n

The CFM CEO made the statement at the SARA Rail Exhibition and Conference, which brings together the largest rail transport operators in Africa every year to discuss development issues in the sector, running under the motto \u201cBoosting Continental Trade by Rail: Investments in African Railways for Sustainable Continental Development\u201d.<\/p>\n

Speaking on the panel on the \u201cLobito Corridor\u201d, Anto\u0301nio Cruz spoke of the advantages of the \u201cSouthern Corridor\u201d, whose infrastructures, such as the CFM, the Sacomar Mineral Port and the Namibe commercial port, are geared towards exports.<\/p>\n

He stressed that these are assets that depend \u201ccompletely\u201d on the region’s mineral and natural resources, whose potential can be better exploited with more investment.<\/p>\n

The SARA fair takes place with the participation of all the countries and railway companies in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and aims to raise finance for the implementation of new projects in the railway sector.<\/p>\n

The mineral resource potential in the southern region of the country, as well as the increase in urban and rural mobility, has forced CFM to operate every day in order to support demand.<\/p>\n

CFM company, whose headquarters are in Lubango city, transports more than two thousand people every week on a route that covers 860 km, linking the provinces of Namibe, Hui\u0301la and Cuando Cubango.<\/p>\n

Angola’s Regulatory Agency for Freight and Logistics Certification (ARCCLA), which invited the Angolan companies, is taking part for the third time in the conference that ends Friday.<\/p>\n

The country is being represented by the National Land Transport Agency (ANTT), the CFL, CFM and the CFB, with a total of twenty delegates.<\/p>\n
