Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The President of the MPLA defended, on Monday, in Luanda, more attention to the Party Action Committee (CAP), given the nature of the work they carry out at the level of the communities in which they are located.<\/b><\/p>\n

Speaking at the first national meeting between the party leader and the first secretaries of the MPLA’s grassroots structure, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o said that it is the CAPs who ensure, on a day-to-day basis, the functioning of the party in the communities, unlike the higher bodies such as the Central Committee and the Congress, which meet very frequently.<\/p>\n

“When a building has a damaged roof or a cracked wall, it can be repaired in a short time, but if its foundations and foundations are not solid, the building will certainly collapse”, warned the MPLA leader, for whom it is essential to take good care of these foundations, in an analogy to the Party’s Action Committees.<\/p>\n

Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, whose speech was interrupted several times by the applause he received from the more than 2,500 members present in the Belas Conference Centre, recalled that the CAPs form the basis of the party against the storms created by political opponents, who he said do not oppose, but rather encourage and foment disorder and organise and lead subversion in the country. “Our comrades, the first secretaries of the CAPs, deserve all our respect and consideration for the work they do”, he highlighted.<\/p>\n

The President of the MPLA highlighted the fact that these activists are not concerned with the media coverage that cameras and television provide to carry out, “tirelessly”, their work.<\/p>\n

However, he regretted the fact that, on occasions when there is a need to fill vacancies in the party leadership, at various levels, with emphasis on the Central Committee, they are overlooked in favor of other militants who, “through influence games and supported by some members of the party leadership, end up filling, in an undeserved manner, the aforementioned vacancies\u201d.<\/p>\n

Regarding this behavior, the MPLA leader urged activists to denounce this practice, in order to correct the error and thus promote greater transparency, honesty and justice in the processes of renewing mandates at all levels of the party hierarchy.<\/p>\n

In a speech focused on valuing the work carried out by this base structure, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o said that it was the CAPs, the first secretaries and the militants who work there who make known, through permanent interaction with citizens, the MPLA’s nation-building project.<\/p>\n

He also said that they are the ones who present to citizens the MPLA’s past struggles and victories, as well as the “hard” work to resolve the economic and social problems that still affect Angolans, with a view to guaranteeing a “bright future of peace, prosperity, freedom and development”.<\/p>\n

“It is the comrades who mobilize citizens to join the ranks of our party, which is why, at this crucial stage in the life of our party and the country, I decided to come, personally, to meet with the grassroots, to listen to them about the paths to follow, to increasingly strengthen our party and reinforce our unity around the ideals of the MPLA”, explained Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o.<\/p>\n

Action Committees more integrated into society<\/p>\n

Despite the challenges that CAPs face, the party president urged the leaders of these structures not to let their guard down and to be even more involved in society and communities, interacting with citizens about the real problems they face, such as the lack of housing, water, energy, schooling for their children, health and others, regardless of their party affiliation. “Even where the Executive, provincial and municipal governments have not yet resolved them, do not shy away from dialogue. Be sincere, open and transparent, because sometimes a simple word can comfort a citizen in need”, he stressed.<\/p>\n

Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o said that, despite the difficulties that still exist and the problems that need to be resolved, citizens need to be told how much the Executive has done to promote progress and the economic and social development of the country, especially in the construction of various infrastructures spread throughout the country. Here, the MPLA president highlighted, among others, schools and other educational establishments, hospitals with different levels of care, water and energy projects, housing, road networks already built or under renovation, ports and airports to be built or rehabilitated, oil refineries to be built to increase the supply of refined products such as diesel and gasoline, as well as major projects to combat the effects of drought in the south of the country.<\/p>\n

Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o congratulates 1st elected secretaries<\/p>\n

The President of the MPLA congratulated the first secretaries of the Party’s Action Committees elected during the process of assessment and renewal of mandates held throughout the country from May to August this year. “Through you, I extend my congratulations to the militants throughout the country for the disciplined and committed way in which they engaged in this process.<\/p>\n

Continue working for the development of Angola<\/p>\n

The MPLA President reiterated, on the occasion, that the party he leads will continue to work for the development and social progress of Angola. This development, he said, will involve continued investment in women and young people, taking into account the proof of competence they continue to give when challenged.<\/p>\n

Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o recalled that all the achievements made so far in all areas of national life have always had the hand, participation and strong engagement of young people and women. For this reason, he stressed that the MPLA will continue to focus on promoting them, both within the party and in state institutions. “Few countries value the role that young people and women play in society as much as we do, occupying the highest positions in the party and state hierarchy”, stressed the MPLA leader, stressing that the range of functions occupied by these two segments of Angolan society is vast.<\/p>\n

“It ranges from municipal administrators, governors whose number has just increased, presidents of the Boards of Directors of large companies, rectors of higher education institutions, ministers, venerable judges and court counselors, president of the National Assembly, vice-president of the party and Vice-President of the Republic”, exemplified Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, stressing that Angolan women have been gaining, in a visible and deserved way, their space of influence and participation in society.<\/p>\n

Bet on young people<\/p>\n

Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o lembrou que a aposta do MPLA nos jovens na\u0303o vem de agora, tendo, a ti\u0301tulo de exemplo, citado o ex-Presidente da Repu\u0301blica, Jose\u0301 Eduardo dos Santos, indicado pelo partido para assumir os destinos do pai\u0301s quando tinha apenas 37 anos, depois da morte do fundador da Nac\u0327a\u0303o, o Presidente Anto\u0301nio Agostinho Neto, a 10 de Setembro de 1979, em Moscovo, na altura capital da enta\u0303o Unia\u0303o das Repu\u0301blicas Socialistas Sovie\u0301ticas (URSS).<\/p>\n

“Vamos, por isso, continuar a apostar nos nossos jovens, prepara\u0301-los e dar-lhes todas as oportunidades de ascenderem ate\u0301 onde as suas capacidades permitirem, inclusive para a assumpc\u0327a\u0303o do mais alto posto de Presidente da Repu\u0301blica\u201d, declarou. Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o disse que o MPLA soube, sempre, desde a sua existe\u0302ncia como forc\u0327a poli\u0301tica, fazer as leituras correctas das diferentes etapas da luta e do tempo, fortalecendo a organizac\u0327a\u0303o e o funcionamento das suas estruturas.<\/p>\n

A ideia, esclareceu, e\u0301 torna\u0301-lo cada vez mais moderno, dina\u0302mico e actuante, visando a melhor inserc\u0327a\u0303o do partido na sociedade e estar, sempre, em melhores condic\u0327o\u0303es de liderar as principais transformac\u0327o\u0303es poli\u0301ticas, econo\u0301micas e sociais no pai\u0301s. Referiu ser esta a raza\u0303o da necessidade permanente de renovac\u0327a\u0303o do partido, para reforc\u0327ar, cada vez mais, as suas bases, que foram realizadas as assembleias de balanc\u0327o e renovac\u0327a\u0303o de mandatos dos Comite\u0301s de Acc\u0327a\u0303o em todo o pai\u0301s. “O MPLA e\u0301 um grande edifi\u0301cio, o maior edifi\u0301cio poli\u0301tico-partida\u0301rio que Angola conhece desde os anos cinquenta\u201d, atestou.<\/p>\n

No quadro dessas iniciativas, o li\u0301der do MPLA recordou que o partido vai realizar, ainda este ano, o Congresso Ordina\u0301rio da JMPLA (o seu brac\u0327o juvenil) e o Congresso Extraordina\u0301rio do partido, que, como avanc\u0327ou, na\u0303o tera\u0301 renovac\u0327a\u0303o de mandatos.<\/p>\n

“Vemos um futuro risonho para o nosso pai\u0301s\u201d<\/p>\n

O li\u0301der do MPLA disse vislumbrar um futuro risonho para Angola, com as reformas em curso no pai\u0301s, como o combate a\u0300 corrupc\u0327a\u0303o, a criac\u0327a\u0303o de um melhor ambiente de nego\u0301cios, a diversificac\u0327a\u0303o da economia, o sucesso do programa com o Fundo Moneta\u0301rio Internacional (FMI) e a maior abertura ao mundo.<\/p>\n

Para a conquista deste desiderato, o Presidente Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o apelou para a necessidade de se manter a unidade e coesa\u0303o interna do partido e combater toda e qualquer tentativa de divisa\u0303o. “Porque so\u0301 unidos somos fortes e em condic\u0327o\u0303es de cumprirmos o nosso papel histo\u0301rico\u201d, declarou Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, para, de seguida, reforc\u0327ar: “todos somos poucos para a grande empreitada que ainda temos pela frente, a de fazer de Angola um grande pai\u0301s, com uma economia forte e resiliente\u201d.<\/p>\n

The occasion served as an opportunity for the leader of the comrades to remind the militants that the country will celebrate the 50th anniversary of National Independence next year. Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o said that the moment will be one of celebrations, but also of reflection on the paths taken by the country in these 50 years. “Where would Angola be today? What level of economic and social development would it have today if we had not been victims of the Cold War? We would certainly be a long way off, much better off”, stated the President of the MPLA.<\/p>\n
