Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>This month, the fields at the Instituto Me\u0301dio de Economia de Luanda (IMEL) benefit from maintenance and improvement works, to continue serving the practice of physical education and the development of school sports.<\/b><\/p>\n

Consisting of a naked football pitch, a hall, a multipurpose pitch, a basketball pitch, two volleyball pitches and a tennis pitch, which have been in existence for over 30 years, the infrastructures are being repaired with the support of the BAI Foundation, so that they have adequate conditions.<\/p>\n

Recently, the institution’s courts hosted the provincial phase of the School Games, which qualified its representatives for the Nationals, held in the province of Uige. The delegation from the country’s capital focused on IMEL.<\/p>\n

In addition to physical education classes, with regard to sport, its practitioners, mostly students, have already proven themselves in provincial, national and international competitions, with emphasis on athletics, volleyball and tennis.In the school’s \u201cgallery\u201d there are several trophies, the majority of which are from volleyball and tennis, in which in both specialties their teams dominated the national championships for more than two decades, mainly during the period under the management of Celso Rosa and Catarina dos Reis. , to the last one that even rewarded the tennis players for winning the Angola Cup.<\/p>\n

With the contribution of dedicated teachers, such as Jesus Airosa, Nascimento (deceased), Merino, Genivaldo Dias, Reinaldo de Sousa, Tavira, Jose\u0301 Manuel, Ventura, among others, they worked voluntarily, for the emergence of great talents in Angolan sport, who were part of the various national volleyball and tennis teams.<\/p>\n

In volleyball, the highlights are the players Francisco Boa, Otchine, Paulino, the Kalebe brothers and others, while in tennis, the renowned So\u0301nia Sirigado, Marta de Sousa, Josefa, Cira Paim Ribeiro, Janeth Makonda, Mira Piedade, Neusa de Sousa, Camila Zangui, Va\u0302nia Silva, Eugenia, Conceic\u0327a\u0303o Dulo and much more.<\/p>\n

Still on its premises, the former Joka Sport School, owned by the now deceased coach Joka Santinho, also operated, which provided excellent performers for national teams and even Angolan football teams, in different categories.<\/p>\n

IMEL, as it is also called, is an educational institution, based in the country’s capital, on Avenida Deolinda Rodrigues, in Largo (1o de Maio) da Independe\u0302ncia, where most Public Schools can be found.<\/p>\n

It offers secondary-technical education, and over the years it has trained several Angolans in the most diverse areas. For the teaching sector, it has 36 classrooms, an amphitheater, a projection room, three computer laboratories, a cafeteria and a library.<\/p>\n

It offers courses in accounting and management, business management, finance and planning, statistics, commerce, public administration, transport administration, management IT and social communications. IMEL hosts more than 2,400 students annually.<\/p>\n
