Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>This Tuesday, the Economic Commission of the Council of Ministers considered, among other topics, a memorandum on the forestry sector, which reflects the deep concerns of the Head of State regarding the way in which the country is being devastated by the rampant exploitation of its forests, on account of the wood business.<\/b><\/p>\n

The session that took place at the Presidential Palace, in Luanda, corresponding to the month of April of this year, was guided by the President of the Republic and holder of the Executive Power, Jo\u00e3o Louren\u00e7o.<\/p>\n

The document approved at the Economic Commission session basically defines the path to be followed by Angola to prevent “a country as wooded as ours, from becoming a Sahel (desert) in the short time of 20 or 30 years, as happened with others in Africa”, as warned by President Jo\u00e3o Louren\u00e7o.” “It is not fair that we leave a desert country without forests to our grandchildren and great-grandchildren”, the President of the Republic also said on the subject.<\/p>\n
