Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Minister of Public Works and Territorial Planning, Manuel Tavares de Almeida, heads the Angolan delegation that will participate this Thursday in the High Level Meeting of the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN) on the New Urban Agenda.<\/b><\/p>\n

According to a statement from the Permanent Mission of Angola to the UN in New York, the meeting aims to assess the implementation of the New Urban Agenda in light of the urgency of addressing sustainable urbanization.<\/p>\n

Discussions at the high-level meeting are expected to inform Member States’ involvement in other high-level meetings, including on migration, climate change, biodiversity, disaster risk reduction, at the G20, G7, the World Urban Forum, the Habitat Assembly, as well as the High Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development, which reviews SDG11.<\/p>\n

In the opening speeches, interventions by the President of the General Assembly, Abdulla Shahid, the UN Under-Secretary General, Amina Mohamed, and the President of Ecosoc, stand out.<\/p>\n

According to the document, the Minister of Public Works and Territorial Planning, Manuel Tavares de Almeida, speaks this Friday, 29.<\/p>\n

The High Level Meeting on the New Urban Agenda brings together, among other entities, Heads of Government, Ministers and various relevant actors in the implementation of the New Urban Agenda.<\/p>\n

The delegation includes the Secretary of State for Spatial Planning, Molares D’Abril, Ambassador Maria de Jesus Ferreira, Permanent Representative of Angola to the United Nations in New York, Ambassador Sianga Ab\u00edlio, Permanent Representative of Angola to the United Nations Offices in Nairobi, Kenya.<\/p>\n

The Angolan delegation also comprises the director of the Minister’s Office, Fernando Manuel, the National Director of Land and Housing Management, Ad\u00e9rito Mohamed, the third secretary of the Ambiente\/Mirex Desk, Georgina Leonilde, as well as senior officials from the Permanent Mission of Angola to of the UN.<\/p>\n
