Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>As part of the obligation that the Member States of the United Nations have to contribute to world peace and security, the Angolan President, Jo\u00e3o Louren\u00e7o, maintained telephone contacts, Thursday (28), at different times, with the Russian President, Vladimir Putin, and with the President of the Italian Council of Ministers, Mario Draghi, on the situation in Ukraine and its consequences.<\/b><\/p>\n

The talks took place in a very cordial atmosphere and aimed to achieve an immediate ceasefire and return to the table of talks in the search for a lasting peace not only for Ukraine but also for Europe, reads the note addressed to the press.<\/p>\n

Congratulations To Togo and Sierra Leone<\/b><\/p>\n

Yesterday, the President of the Republic of Angola congratulated Presidents Julius Maada Bio, of Sierra Leone, and Faure Gnassingb\u00e9, of Togo, on the celebration of yet another anniversary of the independence of their countries, marked on the 27th.<\/p>\n

In letters to his counterparts, the Head of State expressed his willingness to work together to strengthen cooperation with those countries, for the benefit of their respective peoples.<\/p>\n

President Jo\u00e3o Louren\u00e7o, in another development, also sent a message to King Guilherme Alexandre, of the Netherlands, on the occasion of the 27th of April, celebrated in Holland as the King’s Day. “I am delighted at the high level of development achieved by your country, on which it has been possible to build cooperative relations between the Republic of Angola and the Netherlands, with important advantages for both sides”, wrote the President of the Republic.<\/p>\n

Solidarity With The Congolese People<\/b><\/p>\n

In a message addressed to his counterpart from the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Head of State, Jo\u00e3o Louren\u00e7o, expressed his solidarity with the Congolese people and Government, having also mentioned the deepening of bilateral and multilateral relations, including issues of mutual interest to the regional and continental level.<\/p>\n

The message from the Head of State was delivered on Wednesday in Kinshasa by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, T\u00e9te Ant\u00f3nio, during an audience with the President of the Democratic Republic of Congo, F\u00e9lix Tshisekedi.<\/p>\n

Angola and the DRC held the X Session of the Great Mixed Commission, in Kinshasa, between the 27th and 29th of October 2021, during which they signed a Cooperation Agreement in the Commercial domain.<\/p>\n

The two countries are part of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (IRGL), and have maintained contacts at the highest level on issues related to peace, stability and security.<\/p>\n
