Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>In Angola, a total of 1,608,000 vulnerable families will benefit from support until 2023, announced yesterday the minister of Social Action, Family and Women Promotion, Faustina Alves.<\/b><\/p>\n

The official was speaking at the VI Meeting of Ministers Responsible for Gender Equality of the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries, which took place in Luanda, under the motto “Empowering Women for Gender Equality – Towards Sustainable Development”.<\/p>\n

Faustina Alves, who assumed the presidency of the organ, explained that aid to families arises from the various policies and projects to strengthen social protection, with emphasis on Kwenda, with social monetary transfers. The official highlighted that the aid has already benefited 342,348 families, of which more than 50 percent are women.<\/p>\n

“On the final stretch, there is the pilot project of social monetary transfer, called ‘Valor Crian\u00e7a’, which takes place in municipalities in the provinces of Bi\u00e9, Moxico and U\u00edge, where there are more than 18 thousand children, from zero to five years old, than 14 thousand families\u201d, he detailed.<\/p>\n

The minister highlighted that Angola is a country made up mostly of women, with 52 percent of the population and more than 37 percent living in rural areas, where they are the main workforce in the agricultural sector. of women, he said, constitute a priority at the political level and a premise of strategies to achieve the objectives of reducing poverty in Angola. Faustina Alves applauded the personal commitment of the President of the Republic, Jo\u00e3o Louren\u00e7o, in the materialization of gender policies, as well as in improving the living conditions of the communities.<\/p>\n

Gender Observatory<\/b><\/p>\n

Within the scope of action plans, the official said that a process is underway to create a gender observatory, public consultation on a strategy to combat early marriage and pregnancy, prevention of maternal and neonatal deaths, menstrual hygiene and reproductive health and inclusion production and income management, encouraging the creation of cooperatives in different areas of community life.<\/p>\n

The minister called on Governments to make efforts to find sustainable solutions for the empowerment of women and the elimination of all forms of discrimination and violence against women, children, people with disabilities, the elderly and all people in situations of vulnerability.<\/p>\n

“We hope that the results of this meeting will serve as a driving force for the reinforcement of actions to promote gender equality and empowerment, towards the realization of the sustainable development of women and girls in our communities”, highlighted Minister Faustina Alves.<\/p>\n

The ministers of the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries responsible for Gender Equality promised to work for the maintenance of peace among peoples, the protection and effectiveness of women’s rights, taking into account sustainable development.<\/p>\n

Women contribute to more advanced societies<\/b><\/p>\n

The coordinator of the United Nations System in Angola, Zahira Virani, said that progress and the active participation of women contribute to more advanced, resilient societies, more vigorous economies and more equitable communities.<\/p>\n

“These advances benefit not only half of the world’s population, but build solid and effective sustainable development for all,” he said.<\/p>\n

Zahira Virani highlighted that, when talking about gender equality, the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG), number 5 of the 2030 Agenda, it must be recognized that this value is based on all 17 SDGs, whether in the fight against hunger, in the progress in the area of \u200b\u200bHealth, in access to education, in decent work opportunities or in building greener societies.<\/p>\n

For his part, the CPLP cooperation director, Manuel Lap\u00e3o, said that communities are a place where the maintenance of peace and cohesion between peoples are fundamental assets for achieving and achieving sustainable development.<\/p>\n

“For the CPLP, only through multilateralism and international cooperation, in a spirit of global solidarity and shared responsibility, will it be possible to achieve the much-desired SDGs, leaving no one behind”, he stressed.<\/p>\n
