The expansion and solidification of WhatsApp in Africa, particularly in Angola, brings with it a new telecommunications paradigm, which, without any local competitors, constitutes a threat to mobile phone operators in African countries, their sovereignty and the strangling of the economy and finances.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, even seeing and knowing about this new paradigm, which calls into question the future of traditional telecommunications in Africa, both mobile phone companies and African States have not yet taken action to create a local communication application.<\/p>\n

This new paradigm, in addition to being a threat, is also a business opportunity for African entrepreneurs. Unfortunately, they prefer to be resellers rather than producers. Despite this, they have difficulty thinking in the short, medium and long term.<\/p>\n

The mindset of Africans, especially Angolans, and their priorities have prevented them from achieving sustainable economic growth and the development of their continent and country.<\/p>\n

I don’t know what the number of WhatsApp users is currently, but in 10 years, I think the number of inhabitants on the African continent, which is currently 1.494 billion inhabitants, will double.<\/p>\n

And the number of internet users, which currently corresponds to 40% of this population, will also double. With the use and consolidation of WhatsApp, I repeat, without any local competitors, which will in the future sell its services, something it has already done through the chatbot, for now aimed at companies and events.<\/p>\n

The fact that these services are paid for in foreign currency, instantly using a Visa card, in addition to lowering mobile phone revenues, these service payments will, and are already, having a drastic impact on the growth of the African economy, and especially the Angolan economy, which is totally dependent on the use of this application.<\/p>\n

In the future, if Africa does not follow the dynamics of the new digital paradigm, as a competitor rather than a consumer, it will be much easier to be dominated economically and will be totally dependent on the countries that own the large digital industries.<\/p>\n

Because Africa is presenting itself in this digital mosaic, only as someone who facilitates access to the internet, and as a consumer.<\/p>\n

Expecting foreign entrepreneurs to create industries on our continent, or in certain countries, is very naive on the part of Africans.<\/p>\n

The powers that dispute the 1.494 billion inhabitants, see Africans only as consumers, and their territories for the exploitation of raw materials.<\/p>\n

But isn’t it clear that if it were in the interest of foreign investors, especially those who have been exploring oil, Africa wouldn’t have had refineries a long time ago?! But if they bring refineries and industries to Africa, what will their business be? How will their currency be strong?<\/p>\n

Is it hard to understand this?<\/p>\n

It’s not that they are bad, it’s just that Africans themselves cannot see things around them, and they don’t make short, medium, and long-term plans, nor do they care about the economic and financial losses of the collective, if one of them is temporarily benefiting!<\/p>\n

Instead of doing it themselves, supporting each other, they wait for foreign entrepreneurs who benefit most from it to come and do it for them. For this reason, they place more emphasis on foreign investment, instead of empowering their real entrepreneurs, to compete with international competitors, or working in a chain with them.<\/p>\n

If Africans do not develop a competitive mentality and invest in their talents, Africa will never be industrialized and will always be dependent. The money that is lent to us in the morning will return to the countries that lent it to us in the evening, because they are the ones who provide us with services and sell us products on a massive scale.<\/p>\n

If this dependence continues, the only thing that will grow in Africa will be people and debts.<\/p>\n
