Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The new directors of the Criminal Investigation Service (SIC) and Migration and Foreigners (SME), recently appointed by the President of the Republic, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, were presented on Tuesday to the members of the Consultative Council of the Ministry of the Interior, in a ceremony presided over by the head of the portfolio, Euge\u0301nio Laborinho.<\/b><\/p>\n

The nominees, Luciano da Silva and Jose\u0301 Baptista Ju\u0301nior, receive the portfolios from the areas of Chief Commissioner Anto\u0301nio Paulo Bendje, of the SIC, and Chief Commissioner for Migration Joa\u0303o Dias, of the Migration and Foreigners Service.<\/p>\n

The Minister of the Interior considered that the roles occupied by the new officials are of great responsibility and require dedication, commitment, intelligence and sacrifice, as they are sensitive bodies of the State’s defense and security system.<\/p>\n

We are convinced that with your experience and technical capacity, you will boost the two bodies, making them more efficient and effective in their actions, with a view to achieving the goals of MININT and the State, within the scope of maintaining public security and order.<\/p>\n

Euge\u0301nio Laborinho stressed that the Ministry wants the director of the SIC to pay special attention to actions to combat violent crime, homicide, sexual violence, money laundering, financial crimes, vandalism and theft of public property, cybercrimes, drug trafficking and precious minerals, among others.<\/p>\n

Regarding the director of the SME, the minister requested the adoption of strategies and measures to improve actions to prevent and combat illegal immigration, document fraud and other migration offences, in addition to improving the services provided to citizens and companies, with a view to attracting tourism and foreign investment.<\/p>\n

The minister intends to invest more in the training and qualification of staff and in the technological modernization of services, without neglecting cooperation with other MININT bodies, defense and security and the administration of justice.<\/p>\n

In the same terms, he said, it is necessary to strengthen bilateral and multilateral cooperation with neighboring countries, with international institutions and partners, including the agencies of the United Nations, INTERPOL, African Union, SADC, Great Lakes Region, Gulf of Guinea and International Organization for Migration.<\/p>\n
