Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Angolan ambassador to Portugal appealed, this Sunday (1), to students to take advantage of it to acquire, in the different areas of their training, the necessary bases that will allow them to make their contribution to the process of national development, because the country has all Angolans who are abroad, having guaranteed essential support so that they can solve some specific problems.<\/b><\/p>\n

Carlos Fonseca, who was accompanied by the Consul General of Angola in the city of Porto, Isabel Godinho, by the head of the student sector at the Embassy, \u200b\u200bSalvador Mateus, and by other members of the diplomatic mission, addressed the students, during a meeting of consultation with the Angolan community that is studying at the University of Beira Interior, in the city of Covilh\u00e3.<\/p>\n

Ambassador Carlos Fonseca, on the occasion, clarified all the students’ questions, most of which were related to concerns related to their future after training. The meeting lasted more than three hours, and was attended by fellows and non-scholarship holders, who committed themselves to completing the training successfully, in order to join the national development effort to build a future best in the country.<\/p>\n

After the meeting, Carlos Fonseca was received by the rector of the University of Beira Interior, M\u00e1rio Raposo, from whom he heard words of praise regarding the social behavior and academic commitment of the approximately 300 students who are undergoing training at that educational institution.<\/p>\n

The ambassador then visited the University facilities, with emphasis on the different laboratories, considered to be the most modern in Portugal, having been encouraged to promote greater cooperation between the academic community of Angola and Portugal. Ambassador Carlos Fonseca also attended the awarding ceremony of the doctorate “Honoris Causa” to the rector of Mandume ya Ndemufayo University, Professor Orlando Manuel Jos\u00e9 Fernandes da Mata, integrated in the 36 years of the University of Beira Interior, and presided over by its rector , M\u00e1rio Raposo, with the presence of the Portuguese Minister of Territorial Management, Ana Abrunhosa, and several deputies to the National Assembly of Portugal.<\/p>\n

The University of Beira Interior, created on the 30th of April 1986, currently has around 8,600 students, of which 1,800 are foreigners, 47 of which are of different nationalities. It has a faculty composed of approximately 600 professors.<\/p>\n
