Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The US Under-Secretary of State, Wendy Sherman, arrived this Wednesday (4th) evening, in Luanda, for a 24-hour working visit to Angola, at the invitation of the Angolan State.<\/b><\/p>\n

The visit’s main objective is to deepen the strategic partnership between the two countries, particularly in the field of regional security, economic prosperity, governance and human rights.<\/p>\n

During the visit, meetings are planned with the President of the Republic, Jo\u00e3o Louren\u00e7o, and with senior executives, with whom he will discuss the current state of bilateral relations at all levels, under the strategic partnership dialogue existing between the two States.<\/p>\n

Wendy Sherman, who was received at 4 de Fevereiro International Airport by the Secretary of State for International Cooperation and Angolan Communities, Domingos Cust\u00f3dio Vieira Lopes, is accompanied by the Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs, Molly Pee.<\/p>\n

Angola and the United States signed a strategic partnership agreement in 2010, and cooperate in several areas, with emphasis on trade, finance, energy, manufacturing, security, health and justice.<\/p>\n

Recently, an Angolan delegation, headed by the Minister of State and head of the Military House of the President of the Republic, Francisco Furtado, was in Washington DC, to mark the 5th anniversary of the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding, in the Defense sector, between the Republic of Angola and the United States of America.<\/p>\n

Angola is the third largest US trading partner in Sub-Saharan Africa, mainly due to oil exports.<\/p>\n
