Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The President of the Republic of S\u00e3o Tom\u00e9 and Pr\u00edncipe, Carlos Manuel Vila Nova, who arrived this Sunday in Luanda for a three-day visit, is speaking today at the National Assembly, in a solemn session, on the occasion of his State visit.<\/b><\/p>\n

Earlier, in the morning, the Sao Tome statesman has a meeting with the Head of State, Jo\u00e3o Louren\u00e7o, at the Presidential Palace, in Cidade Alta.<\/p>\n

In Parliament, after the speech, Carlos Manuel Vila Nova will sign the Book of Honor, accompanied by the President of the National Assembly, Fernando Dias dos Santos,<\/p>\n

Upon his arrival, yesterday, at 4 de Fevereiro International Airport, he was greeted by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, T\u00e9te Ant\u00f3nio, accompanied by the Minister of Youth and Sports, Ana Paula Sacramento Neto, according to a note from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.<\/p>\n

According to the statement, the agenda also includes a meeting between the delegations of the National Assembly and the S\u00e3o Tom\u00e9 and Pr\u00edncipe counterpart, which will include the participation of the vice-president of the Angolan Parliament, Em\u00edlia Carlota Celestino Dias, and the vice-president of the Angolan Parliament. -President of the Assembly of the Republic of S\u00e3o Tom\u00e9, Guilhermina Oct\u00e1vio Viegas Ramos.<\/p>\n

Angola and S\u00e3o Tom\u00e9 and Pr\u00edncipe signed, in 1995, an agreement for the Reciprocal Protection of Investments, with a view to creating favorable conditions to stimulate private initiatives and intensify economic cooperation between the two States.<\/p>\n

In 2019, areas were identified for the new cooperation strategy, including tourism, transport and the exploration of hydrocarbons that the two countries do offshore. The two States formalized cooperation on February 19, 1978, through the General Agreement of Friendship and Cooperation, following which several legal instruments were signed, aiming to promote and deepen economic, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation relations. The two countries formalized the Bilateral Joint Commission, created in January 1980, which held its sixth and last session, in Luanda, in November 2007. Angola and S\u00e3o Tom\u00e9 and Pr\u00edncipe, which cooperate in the political, diplomatic and economic fields, are members of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP) and of Portuguese Speaking African Countries (PALOP).<\/p>\n

The Republic of S\u00e3o Tom\u00e9 and Pr\u00edncipe, an African island country near the equator, is part of a volcanic chain with impressive rocks and coral formations, as well as tropical forests and beaches.<\/p>\n

On the largest of the islands, S\u00e3o Tom\u00e9, is located Lagoa Azul. The \u00d4bo Natural Park, a jungle reserve with great biodiversity, covers much of S\u00e3o Tom\u00e9 and is distinguished by Pico C\u00e3o Grande, a volcanic rock similar to a skyscraper.<\/p>\n
