{"id":78107,"date":"2025-02-11T07:19:21","date_gmt":"2025-02-11T07:19:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/angola\/all-news\/ocean-terminal-contributes-to-angolas-energy-independence"},"modified":"2025-03-08T19:08:42","modified_gmt":"2025-03-08T19:08:42","slug":"ocean-terminal-contributes-to-angolas-energy-independence","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/angola\/all-news\/ocean-terminal-contributes-to-angolas-energy-independence","title":{"rendered":"Ocean Terminal Contributes to Angola&#8217;S Energy Independence"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Angola. <\/strong><\/span><b>The Minister of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, Diamantino de Azevedo, said Monday in Bengo province that the Barra do Dande Ocean Terminal (TOBD) will contribute to energy independence and boost the country&#8217;s development.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the terminal, the Minister said that the infrastructure, owned by Sonangol, has a significant socio-economic impact for the country, as it is strategic for the downstream segment of the oil and gas sector.<\/p>\n<p>The minister added that the TOBD was built to meet the objectives of the 2018-2022 and 2023-2027 National Development Plans (PDN) and is an important part of the government&#8217;s strategy to ensure national self-sufficiency in refined products, which includes the construction of new refineries, storage facilities and fuel stations.<\/p>\n<p>Diamantino de Azevedo said that the Barra do Dande terminal will play a leading role in strengthening the country&#8217;s energy security, in light of the Presidential Decree that establishes the creation of a Strategic National Security Reserve and regulates its implementation, defining the volumes and time of autonomy by type of product.<\/p>\n<p>The Minister explained that the infrastructure has the capacity to store 582,000 cubic meters of liquids and fuels, which will make it possible, in a crisis situation, to guarantee autonomous supplies to the entire country for a period of 30 days.<\/p>\n<p>Diamantino de Azevedo also noted that the 2023-2027 National Development Plan provides for Angola to have an onshore fuel storage capacity of 1,260,000 cubic meters and that the country has an onshore storage capacity of 676,000 cubic meters.<\/p>\n<p>According to the minister, about 4,000 jobs were created during the construction phase of the terminal and about 400 workers will be needed to operate it.
