Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Five Brazilian samba schools have paid tribute to Angola during Carnival 2025, in recognition of the country’s cultural heritage and the 50th anniversary of national independence, which will be celebrated on November 11.<\/b><\/p>\n

According to a press release, the schools that paid tribute are “Pega no Samba de Vito\u0301ria Espi\u0301rito Santo,” “Imperatriz do Forte,” “Mangueira,” “Alcione” and “Acade\u0301micos do Salgueiro,” which held shows and other cultural activities to celebrate Angola’s cultural heritage.<\/p>\n

According to the statement, the Pega no Samba school from Vito\u0301ria, Espi\u0301rito Santo, paid homage to the country with the theme “Angola: Land of Kings and Queens’ to celebrate Angola’s rich history and culture, from the ancient kingdoms to the present day.<\/p>\n

With this tribute, we want to show the Angolan contribution to Brazilian culture and highlight Angola’s resistance and cultural richness, with wings and allegories that represent historical struggles, musical and religious traditions, as well as the country’s natural beauty,” the statement said.<\/p>\n

The Imperatriz do Forte school praised Angola with the theme “Only those who know where Luanda is will know how to appreciate it” to celebrate Angolan ancestry and culture, with an emphasis on the representation of the kingdom of Queen Njinga Mbande and her warriors.<\/p>\n

According to the release, in Rio de Janeiro, the Mangueira School will highlight the country with the theme “A\u0300 Flor da Terra, no Rio da Negritude entre Dores e Paixo\u0303es” (In the Flower of the Earth, in the River of Darkness between Sorrows and Passions), which highlights the rich contribution of the Bantu peoples, originally from the region of Angola, to the cultural, social and religious formation of this Brazilian state.<\/p>\n

In Sa\u0303o Paulo, the Tom Maior School will honor the country with the story “Angola Opens to the World in the Name of Peace,” which aims to revive the 2009 theme of celebrating freedom and Angolan culture.<\/p>\n

It adds that during the Bahia Carnival, several groups, such as Bloco Afro Olodum and Ivete Sangalo’s Trio Ele\u0301ctrico, will also pay tribute to Angola.<\/p>\n

Brazil was the first country to recognize Angola’s independence, proclaimed on November 11, 1975.<\/p>\n
