Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Vietnamese ambassador to Angola, Duong Chinh Chuc, advocated, on Monday (17), in Luanda, the strengthening of economic cooperation and an increase in his country’s investments and projects in Angolan territory.<\/b><\/p>\n

The diplomat, who was speaking at the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding for the exploration of the oil potential of the Etosha Okavango Basin, signed by the National Agency for Oil, Gas and Biofuels (ANPG) and the Vietnamese business group Xua\u0302n Thie\u0302n (XTG), highlighted the good relations between the two countries, in a year that marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Angola.<\/p>\n

He said that, over many years, the bilateral relations are good, but economic cooperation is still very modest, mainly due to the lack of projects carried out by Vietnamese companies or partners in Angola.<\/p>\n

To improve this situation, he said that the governments and institutions of both countries have made great efforts, with emphasis on the meeting between the leaders of the two countries, where they agreed to promote bilateral cooperation and implement specific projects as quickly as possible.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, he considered that the signed memorandum will mark the promising beginning of a long-term presence of the Vietnamese company in Angola and will serve as an incentive for other companies from both countries to start partnerships.<\/p>\n

The agreement, he said, will bring scientific and practical value, contributing fundamentally to the assessment of the oil and gas potential, opening up development opportunities for the oil industry in the provinces of Cunene, Cuando and Cubango.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe project is a valuable and significant gift that the XTG group and ANPG offer to the governments and people of the two countries this year, which commemorates the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n

The memorandum aims to implement the joint study project in the area of oil prospecting and exploration in the Etosha\/Okavango basin, which comprises around 300k square kilometers of sedimentary basin.<\/p>\n

The document signed by the ANPG Chairman, Paulo Jero\u0301nimo, and the XTG group manager, Nguye\u0302n Thie\u0302n, also provides for an in-depth study to acquire 2k kilometres of 2D seismic data over a renewable 3 years period.<\/p>\n

The company will also carry out geophysical and geological studies, including the acquisition of 2D seismic data, geochemical, magnetic and gravitational studies, which are essential for a rigorous assessment of the region’s hydrocarbon potential.<\/p>\n
