He said that it was unfair to ignore the influence of the international economic and financial crisis, as well as the influence of Covid-19, when considering the political processes developed by the MPLA and the governance of the Executive.

Manuel Nunes Júnior, who was addressing MPLA militants, friends and sympathizers at the mass political act, held on Saturday in Moçâmedes, highlighted that the reforms made it possible to end impunity, having a positive impact on the implementation of public policies. By the way, he mentioned that, now, “any one of us, no matter who it is, if he violates the law, he knows that he will have to answer, before the organs of Justice, for his infraction or for the crime committed”.

The politician insisted on underlining: “No one can consider themselves above the law. This is very important, because in a society where impunity prevails, development is not possible.” The member of the MPLA Political Bureau, Manuel Nunes Júnior, said that, during the last 4 years, the country has lived through reforms, which have made it possible to balance the public accounts, overcoming the negative balance, both in the internal and external accounts.

“Our house is tidy”, stated Nunes Júnior, having made it known that, when this happens, “we can then receive visitors in a more appropriate way”. He assured that “this means that investments began to appear and the country began its normal growth process”.

Economic Growth
For five years, starting in 2016, Angola was in a situation of economic recession, but since last year, it has resumed normal growth, and the important note is that its recovery was not driven by oil, but by sectors such as Agriculture, Fisheries, Industry, and others, he said. “What we have always defended, over all these years, that it was necessary to reduce our dependence on oil resources, is now happening”, underlined the also Minister of State for Economic Coordination, Manuel Nunes Júnior.

Angola grew, “even though there was no growth in the Oil Sector, not least because, last year, growth in the oil sector was negative”.

The Angolan economy, he continued, in a global way, grew, and will continue on this path, in the coming years, allowing unemployment to be reduced, especially among young people. “We will have more companies operating, paying better wages, and, in this way, we will improve the living conditions of our populations, in general,” the politician stressed.

Manuel Nunes Júnior said that Agriculture, which is a very important sector for the Angolan economy, with great performance in the fight against poverty, has registered “good growth”. Even in 2020, a very difficult year for all countries, particularly for Angola, the Agriculture Sector, according to Manuel Nunes Júnior, grew by 5 percent, when last year it registered a percentage of 3. The Member of the Political Bureau underlined the need to continue with this growth, in order to solve the unemployment problems that the country still faces.

Namibe With Significant Advances
Manuel Nunes Júnior highlighted that the province of Namibe, which has always been an essentially fishing region, is now taking very important steps, with an emphasis on agriculture. In this territory, he said, the production of cereals, vegetables and tubers, such as sweet potatoes and reindeer, has tripled production in the last two years, a fact of “grand importance”.

He referred that the rehabilitation of the Lucira (Namibe)-Benguela road, which is already underway, with the resumption of the productive sector in the three provinces that make up the corridor of the Southern Region, namely Namibe, Huíla and Benguela, will offer conditions to give a major advance in the development, not only of agriculture and livestock, but also of tourism.

The member of the Political Bureau said that, in addition to agriculture, Namibe province has made significant progress in other sectors. “With the PIIM works alone, it was possible to reduce the number of children out of the education system by 60 percent, with the construction of more classrooms”, he stressed. The actions carried out within the scope of the PIIM also allowed for the construction of municipal hospitals, centers and health posts, in all communes and municipalities in this province, he said.

The centralities of Praia Amélia and 5 de Abril were also built, with 2 thousand houses each, he emphasized, having admitted that they are still insufficient. “We have to contribute to minimize the great needs of housing, to improve life, especially for young people”, he underlined.

City Of Moçâmedes Benefits From Solar Energy Supply
Namibe province will benefit from a solar energy exploration project, with the capacity to produce 50 megawatts, which, according to the politician, the installation process will begin this month. Upon completion of the first phase, the city of Moçâmedes will have an electrical supply of 25 megawatts. “Moçâmedes will stop depending entirely on thermal energy, which, in addition to being very expensive, is also very harmful to the environment,” he guaranteed.

The member of the MPLA Political Bureau, Manuel Nunes Júnior, informed that the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, has already approved the construction of 43 small dams and dams, which will help to mitigate the effects of the drought in Namibe province, both for people as well as cattle. He stressed that the “Kwenda” program in Namibe province has contributed to the protection of the most vulnerable populations, especially those affected by drought. In this way, around 6,000 families, out of more than 7,000 registered, benefit from the resources of this important program to fight poverty.

“Yesterday, we laid the first stone for the construction of the project to capture and expand the water supply system in the city of Moçâmedes, and, according to the information provided to us, it may be completed in the next 12 months”, recalled the politician, for whom the water harvesting system represents the importance of the set of works that are being carried out, as well as its impact on the lives of populations throughout the country.

For More News And Analysis About Angola Follow Africa-Press

Africa-Press – Angola.
