Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>A photographic exhibition featuring images of Angolan nationalists, held on Tuesday in north-eastern Lunda-Norte Province, marked the opening of the commemorations of the 23rd anniversary of the Peace and National Reconciliation Day, to be marked on April 04.<\/b><\/p>\n

According to the director of the provincial government’s press office, Ms So\u0301nia Ferry, the objective was to praise the bravery, determination and patriotism of the nationalists for conquering national independence in 1975, as well as effective peace in 2022.<\/p>\n

She added that the event also served to inspire young people so that, through patriotism, they can contribute to the social and economic development of Angola.<\/p>\n

So\u0301nia Ferry reported that the provincial government wants to draw the attention of young people towards the crucial need to preserve and consolidate the great achievements of the Angolan people, with emphasis on independence, peace, democracy and infrastructures with social impact.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, he reported that the commemorative agenda around the 23rd anniversary of effective peace, in addition to school inaugurations, also includes lectures, radio debates, musical shows and sports activities.<\/p>\n

The Peace and National Reconciliation Day was established on April 4, 2002, a date of great importance for the Angolan people that arose after the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Angolan government and National Union for the Total Independence of Angola (UNITA), thus putting an end to a civil war that lasted decades.<\/p>\n
