Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The ambassadors were instructed to adapt the diplomatic strategy to the Executive’s lines of promoting an attractive business environment for foreign direct investment in the country, announced Sunday, in Luanda, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, T\u00e9te Ant\u00f3nio, at the end of the 9th Ordinary Meeting. of the Ambassadors.<\/b><\/p>\n

“The Angolan Executive has made efforts to make the country’s business environment increasingly attractive”, underlined the minister, adding that, with this line of thought, it is intended that foreign direct investment be a vector capable of capitalize on the opportunities that the market offers, generating more employment opportunities, income and improving the quality of life of the Angolan population.<\/p>\n

T\u00e9te Ant\u00f3nio referred that, among several measures, the Executive reformed the Private Investment Law, approved a legal framework to promote competition, created mechanisms to speed up the process of granting visas, reinforced the mechanisms of internal control over the activity of the Public Administration and increased cooperation with international partners in the fight against corruption, nepotism and impunity. To see, in practice, the business environment created in Angola, the minister T\u00e9te Ant\u00f3nio invited the ambassadors to visit the Luanda Special Economic Zone today and tomorrow. “A better exploitation of the Special Economic Zone of Luanda and Bengo depends on the commitment of the ambassadors in attracting investments to the country, on the basis of political and economic diplomacy, active and quite comprehensive”,<\/p>\n

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, T\u00e9te Ant\u00f3nio, also highlighted that the initiative to attract investment to the country should allow Angolan companies to create the possibility of acquiring cutting-edge technology and knowledge, thus attracting the best staff, for so that they are well positioned to face the environment in the field of international trade.<\/p>\n

Foreign Policy Line<\/b>
\nThe ambassadors’ meeting served to deepen the reflection on the Angolan foreign policy strategy, adapting it to the current demands, challenges and opportunities, arising from the international political and economic context. The adequacy of the strategy, according to the minister, allows, more and more, to organize an assertive and efficient defense of the interests and positions of Angola and Angolans in the world.<\/p>\n

Minister T\u00e9te Ant\u00f3nio said that the meeting also served to balance the organization and functioning of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, highlighting the need for continuous qualitative transformation of its internal procedures, principles and competences.<\/p>\n

The meeting took place in an international context of many uncertainties, characterized by the validity of Covid-19, the conflict involving Russia and Ukraine, cyber attacks, the increase in terrorist actions and violent extremism that seriously affect human rights, threats to democratic and lawful states. These phenomena, pointed out T\u00e9te Ant\u00f3nio, have a negative impact on the achievement of sustainable development goals (UN Agenda 2030) and the African Union’s agenda 2063.<\/p>\n

The Minister of Foreign Affairs referred that Angola, within the scope of its foreign policy, based on the principles of multilateralism, peaceful conflict resolution and solidarity, has adopted considered and consistent positions in the most varied decision-making centres, underlining the need to strengthen dialogue. peace and negotiation. Angola, he continued, considers it necessary to resort to international standards of cooperation between countries in addressing common, complex transnational problems for the foundation of national peace and security.<\/p>\n

In this sense, the minister T\u00e9te Ant\u00f3nio appealed to the ambassadors to share information that will serve to define concrete strategies, aiming at safeguarding the interests of the country’s foreign policy. During the meeting, which took place under the theme “Angolan foreign policy in the current international context”, the participants concluded that, despite the adverse conditions arising from the Covid-19 pandemic, progress has been made in the field of foreign relations, since the of the 8th Meeting of Ambassadors, held from 23 to 25 May 2018.<\/p>\n

Role of the Head of State<\/b>
\nThe ambassadors praised the diplomatic efforts undertaken by the President of the Republic, Jo\u00e3o Louren\u00e7o, in the conduct of foreign policy and praised his role in the search for solutions to the different problems that affect the African continent and the world. The participants also welcomed the fact that Angola assumed the Pro Tempore presidencies of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (CIRGL) and the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (CPLP) and the position of Third Vice-President of the of the Assembly of the African Union, as well as the holding of the OASCP Summit in December.<\/p>\n
