Portuguese is the only official language of Angola, as provided for in the Constitution.<\/p>\n<p>According to the authorities, the proposal aims to protect, value, dignify and promote the study of Angolan languages \u200b\u200bof African origin and ensure their development as languages \u200b\u200bof national identity and communication, by virtue of the cultural and civilizational values \u200b\u200bthey convey.<\/p>\n<p>It is established that the central and local administration bodies and the autonomous administration \u201cmay, when necessary and possible\u201d, make use of Angolan languages \u200b\u200bof African origin, accompanied by the respective translation into the official language.<\/p>\n<p>In this proposed law, Angolan languages \u200b\u200bof African origin are subdivided into four categories, namely regional languages \u200b\u200b- Kikongo, Kimbundu, Cokwe, Ngangela, Olunyaneka, Olukuvale, Oxikwanyama and Umbundu.<\/p>\n<p>The remaining categories are local languages \u200b\u200b- Ifyote, Songo, Mbangala, Luvale, Mbunda, Lunda, Va\u0301twa and Khung) &#8211; cross-border languages \u200b\u200b- Cokwe, Luvale, Oxikwanyama, Kikongo) &#8211; and transnational languages \u200b\u200b- Kikongo, Oxihelelo and Khung).<\/p>\n<p>The State \u201cguarantees the effective legal protection of the languages \u200b\u200bof Angola, through normative and administrative acts, promoting their permanent study, in order to accompany the development of society\u201d, states the proposal prepared by the Ministry of Culture.<\/p>\n<p>The State and public and private entities encourage the promotion of cultural identity, through the Languages \u200b\u200bof Angola, \u201cby creating suitable conditions for learning and access to education in their mother tongue and the official language\u201d, the government initiative adds.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Angola<\/span> Follow <span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Africa-Press<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Angola.
