Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Soyo Refinery, to be built by the consortium “Quanten Consortium An-gola”, in three years, in the town of Matanga, province of Zaire, with the Euro 5 measure, the second with this standard in Africa, can produce, in a first phase, 250 thousand barrels-day, guaranteeing 16 thousand jobs, announced yesterday the chairman of the Board of Directors, Segun Thomas.<\/b><\/p>\n

The profile of the Refinery, whose foundation stone was laid last Friday, complies with the most “strict model” of issuance, and the work is budgeted at 3.5 billion US dollars. The chairman of the Board of Directors of Quanten Consortium Angola explained that the project will be built in two phases, fulfilling the technical criteria for exploring gasoline and diesel.<\/p>\n

Segun Thomas provided the information to the press at the end of the audience with the President of the Republic, Jo\u00e3o Louren\u00e7o, at the Presidential Palace, in Cidade Alta. The official, who was accompanied, at the meeting, by the US ambassador to Angola, Tulinabo Mushingi, guaranteed that the Refinery will start up within three years, that is, in 2025, and, as it evolves, it may increase the number of barrels, whose initial capacity is estimated at 250 thousand barrels per day, as mentioned above.<\/p>\n

“I emphasize that the Soyo Refinery will be the only one of the two African refineries to be able to comply with this requirement, the Euro 5 standard, in terms of refining”, he underlined. Segun Thomas said that the project will be carried out in two phases, the first with construction and the second with production.<\/p>\n

The CEO of Quanten Consortium Angola also announced that the two phases of the project will generate a total of 16,000 direct and indirect jobs. With regard to refined products, the official informed that the Soyo Refinery, operating with high quality standards, will, in the first instance, handle gasoline and diesel with ultra-low sulfur content.<\/p>\n

At this moment, he said, the cleaning of the area and technical works are underway, in order to move on to the construction phase, properly speaking. “Only within this period, comprised of 3 and a half years, will we be able to start thinking about refining fuel”, stressed Segun Thomas.<\/p>\n
