Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Secretary of State for Budget and Public Investment said yesterday in Parliament that, in addition to investment in the areas of Education and Health, the rehabilitation of roadways throughout the country is also underway, using the surplus of oil prices.<\/b><\/p>\n

Aia-Eza da Silva responded to the deputies’ concerns about the application of surpluses in the price of a barrel of oil. Much questioned by opposition deputies, the Secretary of State explained that, through the Integrated Plan for Intervention in Municipalities (PIIM) and resources from oil surpluses, many works are being resumed and completed and that throughout the year some will be completed.<\/p>\n

Aia-Eza da Silva admitted the existence of many works stopped for a long time, but stressed “that, currently, it is very rare to have works completely paid for, and without physical execution”. The Secretary of State for Budget and Public Investment stressed that domestic debt issues amounted to 381 billion kwanzas, while debt service amounted to 944 billion. In the fourth quarter, she said, the price per barrel was quoted at US$79.8, a daily production of 1.1 million barrels, with inflation corresponding to 27 percent.<\/p>\n

Revenues in the fourth quarter amounted to 4.2 billion kwanzas, representing an execution of 29 percent in relation to the budget.<\/p>\n

\nMPLA deputy Jo\u00e3o Guerra spoke about the structuring programs that have been successfully implemented by the Executive, with emphasis on Social Cash Transfers (Kwenda), which is lifting thousands of vulnerable families out of poverty, the Food Reserve, which is allowing the prices of basic products to fall considerably.<\/p>\n

Jo\u00e3o Guerra stressed that the diversification of the economy is the way forward for the country to stop depending on oil. As a large-scale project, recently inaugurated, he pointed to the Water Transfer Channel from the Cunene River (Cafu), which already minimizes the impact of the drought phenomenon, which affects thousands of people and their livestock in the southern provinces of the country. .<\/p>\n

Other MPLA deputies, such as Joanes Andr\u00e9, Jesu\u00edno Manuel da Silva and Ant\u00f3nio Evaristo, highlighted the great achievements that are taking place throughout the country, and encouraged the Executive to continue with the construction of social projects to solve citizens’ problems.<\/p>\n

Most of the opposition deputies who intervened in the debate on the two reports questioned the destination given to the money raised by the differential in the price of a barrel of oil in the year 2021, as well as the failure to deliver the same to Parliament.<\/p>\n

The parliamentarians also underlined the need for the Executive to pay greater attention to the inspection of the various works implemented throughout the territory, within the framework of the PIIM, to avoid the repetition of budgets in a short space of time.<\/p>\n

Andr\u00e9 Mendes de Carvalho, from CASA-CE, said that his bench abstained from voting on the two reports, “because he believes that there is still much to be done in the social sector, especially in the area of \u200b\u200bHealth, where malaria (the main cause of mortality in the country) continues to be ignored.<\/p>\n
