Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Government created an Observatory of the Informal Economy (OEI) to support the process of formalizing the economy, a consultative body not integrated into the Public Administration.<\/b><\/p>\n

According to the executive decree of the Ministry of Economy and Planning that stipulates the functioning of the entity, the OEI will be responsible for reinforcing the social dialogue and the debate with the main social actors and economic agents for the formalization of the economy, preparing opinions, proposing studies on the sector and participate in the consideration of the Executive’s policies regarding the formalization of the economy.<\/p>\n

It will be composed of 40 members, representatives of public or private sectors, 17 of which will come from public bodies, services and bodies.<\/p>\n

The remaining entities are business associations, academic institutions, development partners, Non-Governmental Organizations, entities and organizations in the informal economy and trade union associations and professional bodies.<\/p>\n

The OEI meets every two months and extraordinarily at the request of one third of its members.<\/p>\n

According to the latest data from the National Statistics Institute (INE), for the last quarter of 2021, more than 80 percent of people employed in Angola are in the informal sector (8,788,236 people), of which 71.5 percent men (3,863,781 people) and 89.8 women (4,924,456 people).<\/p>\n
