Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Angolan ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium, M\u00e1rio de Azevedo Constantino, announced this Friday (20), in Luanda, that the country will host the 10th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Organization of African States, Caribbean and Pacific (OASCP), from 6 to 10 December this year.<\/b><\/p>\n

“This Committee is responsible for preparing the summit and it is important for us to work not only with the working group created here in Angola, also preparatory to the Summit, but also to work with Parliament . Parliamentary activity is one of the goals of the OEACP” , said at the end of the audience granted by the president of the National Assembly, Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos.<\/p>\n

He stressed that he went to Parliament to work with the 3rd Committee, as it is important that the deputies, on the sidelines of their meetings, can effectively give a great boost to the visibility of the historic Summit and to the organization itself.<\/p>\n

The also chairman of the Group of Ambassadors appointed to prepare the 10th Summit of OEACP Heads of State and Government said that the initiative takes place at a historic moment for the organization, as it marks the beginning of the implementation of a new cooperation agreement, called the General Agreement on visas<\/p>\n

He added that, at the same event, Angola will assume the presidency of the organization, for a period of three years, having, therefore, stressed that the country will print a new dynamic during the mandate.<\/p>\n

He highlighted the advantages of belonging to the organization, above all, South-South cooperation, which will be very present at the Summit. According to the diplomat, the maximum scope of materialization of these ideas will be the empowerment of the private sector, in the field of commercial relations.<\/p>\n

For the Assistant Secretary General of the OASCP, Ibrahim Norbert Richard, responsible for political issues and human development, the department he coordinates and organizes the Summit is ready.<\/p>\n

“We discussed the role that parliaments can play under the new OEACP agreement. We also discussed the role that parliaments can play in the context of OEACP and European Union relations during the meeting of the Joint Parliamentary Assembly, scheduled for 15 October”, he informed.<\/p>\n

Deputy Am\u00e1lia Maria Alexandre, second secretary of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and the Angolan Community Abroad, said that the meeting produced good results and that parliamentarians were informed about the preparations for the Summit of OEACP Heads of State and Government. .<\/p>\n

The 10th OEACP Summit of Heads of State and Government will be held under the theme: “3 Continents, 3 Oceans, 1 Common Destiny – Building an OEACP, sustainable resilience”.<\/p>\n
