Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Improving the health, education, energy, water and communications sectors are priorities for the government of the province of Moxico Leste, a region resulting from the new administrative division in force since the beginning of this year.<\/b><\/p>\n

Speaking to the press, as part of the first visit, on Friday, by the President of the Republic, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, the local governor, Crispiniano dos Santos, stated that the challenges in the socio-economic domains are multiple and are already being addressed.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe work is hard and we have already started. The population of the region will see better days and we want to count on the efforts of all ministerial departments, taking into account that the task is joint\u201d, he pointed out.He said that the province has a lot of potential, especially arable land, wildlife, and natural resources that can boost the local economy and provide employment opportunities for young people.<\/p>\n

In his view, the province is \u201cvirgin\u201d and every investor has the opportunity to do so here.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are open to working, creating more infrastructures linked to the education, health and other sectors, as well as boosting our economy and developing tourism here in the region,\u201d he stressed.<\/p>\n

About Moxico LesteThe province is bordered to the north by the province of Lunda-Sul, to the west and south by the province of Moxico and to the east by the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Zambia.<\/p>\n

Moxico-Leste has Cazombo as its capital, located in the southwestern part of the province, and is currently one of the few provincial capitals in the country to share a border with a neighbouring country, in this case Zambia, along with Dundo (Lunda-Norte), Mbanza Congo (Zaire) and Cabinda, which border the DRC.<\/p>\n

It has nine municipalities, namely<\/p>\n

Caianda, Cameia, Cazombo (provincial headquarters), Lago Dilolo, Lo\u0301vua do Zambeze, Luacano, Macondo, Luau and Nana Candundo, inhabited mainly by a population whose main occupation is agriculture, producing cassava, corn, rice, peanuts, sweet potatoes, potatoes, beans, vegetables and citrus fruits.<\/p>\n

Data indicate that the regions that make up this province produce more than 500 thousand tons of products annually.<\/p>\n

In addition to agriculture, Moxico-Leste has other potential, especially in the mining sector, which is already carrying out copper prospecting work, an action carried out by Anglo American, a British company, in the Calunda region.In terms of tourism, the new province is home to one of the biggest attractions in the east of the country, Lake Dilolo, which is 1,098 metres above sea level and is the largest in Angola and the third largest in Africa.<\/p>\n

Located in the municipality of Luacano, at the southern end of the Lobito Corridor, this giant space is a true paradise, open for exploration.<\/p>\n

The Cameia National Park, in the municipality of the same name, to the west of the provincial capital (Cazombo), is another attraction, home to lions, spotted hyenas, leopards, cheetahs, hippos, sables, red sables and sables, in addition to water resources such as the Zambezi River and the Kassai Falls.<\/p>\n
