Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Constitutional Court (TC) promotes, today, in Luanda, a seminar, addressed to national and foreign journalists licensed in the country, on the “Incompatibilities and Ineligibilities to the positions of President of the Republic, Vice-President of the Republic and deputies to the National Assembly “.<\/b><\/p>\n

The event aims to prepare Media professionals on issues related to the stage of candidacies, by political parties and party coalitions, to the General Elections-2022.<\/p>\n

The President of the Constitutional Court, Laurinda Cardoso, will participate in the event, as host, delivering the introductory speech of the event, which includes speeches by renowned experts in electoral processes in Angola.<\/p>\n

According to the program of activities, the theme “Legal Requirements and Procedures for the Submission of Candidates to the General Elections will dominate the first panel, under a lecture by the director of the Office of Political Parties of the Constitutionalist, Mauro Alexandre.<\/p>\n

The second panel, dedicated to the approach of the Press Law, Ethics and Deontology of the Communication Professional in the Context of the Electoral Process, will be given by the president of the Portfolio and Ethics Commission of Angola, Lu\u00edsa Rog\u00e9rio. Ethics and Deontology of Electoral Agents, among other topics, are also included as the theme of the seminar.<\/p>\n

First Seminar<\/b>
\nThe first seminar of its kind, promoted by the Constitutional Court, in April this year, aimed to train political parties, coalitions of parties and installation commissions on the Electoral Process.<\/p>\n

At the time, the president of the Constitutional Court, Laurinda Cardoso, appealed to parties and coalitions to take advantage of the political-electoral environment to “compete with each other, and not use public institutions, with emphasis on the judiciary, as a “scapegoat” for respective “sins”.<\/p>\n

“Justice cannot be seen as unfair, when it does not decide in our favor, and fair, when it decides in our favor”, warned, on that occasion, Laurinda Cardoso, when addressing an audience composed of the cream of Angolan politicians and other guests. , who came together in a seminar, on the initiative of the Constitutional Court, to debate on issues related to the electoral process: submission of candidacies to the general elections and litigation in the electoral process.<\/p>\n

The judges, said Laurinda Cardoso, every day reassume the commitment to defend and remove the permanent risks of a drop in the quality of judicial decisions, with obvious dangers for the citizen, who is the first to feel the lack of adequate control of the legality of action. and to see the judicial and effective protection of their legitimate rights and interests weakened, when this becomes increasingly demanding and urgent.<\/p>\n

“It is necessary to create trust in the process, in all its phases, and the Constitutional Court has an important share of responsibility in building this trust, assuming, from the outset, the responsibility in its fullness and with all the enthusiasm”, underlined the judge Laurinda Cardoso.<\/p>\n

The seminar, he explained, is due to the fact that the country will hold, next August, the fifth election in its history. Elections are always a unique moment of singular importance for any State. “First, because they must always constitute a moment of celebration of democracy, and, second, because the construction and consolidation of the democratic State and of law always has a barometer in electoral processes: because they serve as an indicator to assess the level of maturity of a given democracy “.<\/p>\n
