Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The African Development Bank (ADB) will finance US$1.2 million this year to boost and reinforce the relaunch of the rural industrial parks project in ten provinces of the country, under a cooperation agreement between the Ministry of Economy and Planning and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), signed this Monday, in Luanda.<\/b><\/p>\n

The project, which has the technical support of UNDP, will be implemented, in a first phase, in the provinces of Benguela, Malanje and Zaire and aims to transform cassava, fruits and corn into flour, with the aim of supporting the Ministry of Commerce. and Industry to establish an investment monitoring platform across the country, within the framework of the economic diversification policy.<\/p>\n

The project, to be financed by the African Development Bank, should strengthen the actions of the Industrial and Technological Innovation Institute of Angola (IDIIA) in strengthening rural industrial parks, to accelerate the national economy, as well as strengthening the legal framework and operationalization. of industrial parks in the country.<\/p>\n

Likewise, the project aims to strengthen the capacities of the Agriculture sector, in carrying out industrial diagnoses, selecting priority industrial parks and assessing the economic, social and environmental impacts of industrialization.<\/p>\n

According to the UNDP resident representative in Angola, Edo Stork, the rural industrial parks project allows for the dynamism of the manufacturing industry in the Agriculture sector, for the growth of the economy and for guaranteeing jobs among young Angolans.<\/p>\n

“The African continent is moving on safe paths, despite the great challenges that lie ahead” and, therefore, it is for the UNDP “important that Africa develops its productive capacities, to generate wealth and stop depending on other continents\u201d, he said. He added that “This project fits into this thinking and, in fact, these parks will strengthen the economy, the manufacturing industry, employment and economic growth”.<\/p>\n

According to the senior economist at ADB in Angola, Cravo T\u00falio Ant\u00f3nio, the rural industrial parks project seeks to provide benefits to a greater number of companies, to boost agricultural activity and create the best operating conditions for the country’s manufacturing industries.<\/p>\n

The African Development Bank has financed several projects in the country, with emphasis on the Agriculture, Rural and Environmental Development sector, within the scope of the policy of diversifying Angola’s economy, by reducing dependence on oil.<\/p>\n
