Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Constitutional Court proceeds, this Wednesday, to open the Data Processing Center, reserved for the reception, verification and validation of documents related to the submission of candidacies to the General Elections, announced yesterday in Luanda, its president, Laurinda Cardoso.<\/b><\/p>\n

The presentation of candidacies by political parties, which results from the creation of conditions for participation in general elections, in compliance with the law, thus has a mechanism available to formalize the acts. The President of the Constitutional Court, Laurinda Cardoso, without providing more circumstantial information about the specific characteristics of the Data Processing Center, limited herself to confirming its operation, starting tomorrow. Laurinda Cardoso announced the opening of the Center during the seminar on Incompatibilities and Ineligibility for the positions of President and Vice-President of the Republic and Members of the National Assembly, promoted by the Constitutional Court and aimed at national and foreign journalists licensed to work in the country.<\/p>\n

In her speech, the venerable judge of the Constitutional Court recognized the fundamental role of the media in the functioning of the democratic political regime, in particular, at a time “as crucial as the Elections”.<\/p>\n

The media is also responsible for providing the information necessary for citizens to exercise their right to vote freely and consciously, stated Laurinda Cardoso. She added that political parties, aware of this, find in these media the ideal channel to present their candidates and get their message across to citizens. “Sometimes the problem is not what we hear, but how we hear and transmit,” warned the judge.<\/p>\n

Regarding the seminar, Laurinda Cardoso said that the exercise is part of the preparation of the necessary conditions for holding the general elections. With this, he continued, the Constitutional Court intends, in a pedagogical way, to dialogue and provide the different media with the necessary tools to better inform citizens about the issues inherent to the process. of nominations. The President of the Constitutional Court, Laurinda Cardoso, pointed out that it is in the capacity of electoral agents, in accordance with the provisions of Resolution No. on how to access the source of electoral data, how to act with rigor and professionalism and how to refrain from publishing unofficial results, among others.<\/p>\n

\nLaurinda Cardoso, when looking at possible delays in the decisions of the Constitutional Court, in response to a question raised by the participants, said, categorically, that this concern does not fit in the provision of the TC, because the body has been conducting the processes with very serious. “At this time, we do not have any process for gauging and annotation pending.”<\/p>\n

The judge thus calmed the concern raised, by way of comparison, about the period of response of the Constitutional Court to the precautionary measures<\/p>\n

The president of the Constitutional, Laurinda Cardoso, said that what sometimes happens is that the parties bring the issue to the public, to show that they have brought an action, and then they do not come to say that they have been given an answer. “We didn’t do it, because, as a rule, the Constitutional Court does not make the orders public, it only publishes the judgments through the institution’s website”. Election Coverage Involves Identified journalists<\/b>
\nThe president of the Portfolio and Ethics Committee, Lu\u00edsa Rog\u00e9rio, when commenting on the coverage of the events of the parties, recognizes that the current environment is typical of the electoral period, having mentioned, by the way, that the great novelty is in the fact that the journalists who will cover the elections are properly identified.<\/p>\n

Lu\u00edsa Rog\u00e9rio clarified when commenting on the Press Law, ethics and deontology of the media professional in the context of the electoral process, justifying the rigor by the fact that “there are many non-journalists in the newsrooms”.<\/p>\n

“There are many people in disguise in the newsrooms, and many political commissioners”, he emphasized, to illustrate the way he sees the organization and performance of the class. “We have to be sure that this process will be covered by journalists who are able to be covered, and who can be held accountable, at least from a disciplinary point of view”, also touched on the journalist.<\/p>\n

For the retired judge of the Constitutional Court, Carlos Magalh\u00e3es, who focused on “The electoral civic conduct, the problems with the coverage of the electoral campaign have to do with the fact that the Media bodies do not have an autonomous editorial line, ” but the one that subjects them to the principles of the electoral code of conduct and other legal diplomas in force”. \nThe director of the Political Parties Office of the Constitutional Court, Mauro Alexandre, referring to the presentation of candidacies by political parties to the general elections, clarified that the United Patriotic Front is not authorized to carry out political activities. parties, due to the fact that the political project was not registered by the Constitutional Court, “not constituting, therefore, a coalition”.<\/p>\n
