Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Angolan Boxing Federation (FABOXE) signed a cooperation agreement with Antex (Cuban service provider) on Friday in Luanda to hire a coach to lead the national team and train coaches and technicians throughout the country.<\/b><\/p>\n

Sponsored by the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MINJUD) the agreement was signed by Carlos Lui\u0301s, president of the federation, and Ernesto Gutie\u0301rrez Basulto, chairman of the Board of Directors of Antex Angola, on the Cuban side.<\/p>\n

In an interview with daily newspaper Jornal de Angola, the head of the Caribbean company expressed gratitude for the choice: \u201cCuba has a long history in boxing. It has several Olympic champions. We have more than five who are three-time Olympic champions and a larger number of world champions. This requires training planning and the creation of short, medium, and long-term competitive cycles,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He said the goal is to align Antex’s objectives with those of the Federation.The coach will get to know the potential of young Angolan athletes and work to refine, in less time, the quality and strategy of combat and training.<\/p>\n

Ernesto Gutie\u0301rrez Basulto mentioned the presence of Cuban staff in the main soccer teams in Angola. \u201cSports doctors, massage therapists, and physical therapists are very important for the athlete’s performance.\u201d<\/p>\n

Carlos Lui\u0301s pointed out that the quality of Angolan boxing in the 1980s and 1990s was certainly due to the level of Cuban and Russian coaches, without putting aside those from the Democratic Republic of Congo, especially from the Catanga region.<\/p>\n
