Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The President of Senegal, Macky Sall, who is starting a 72-hour State visit to the country today, has a work agenda with three main reasons, namely the private meeting with the Head of State, Jo\u00e3o Louren\u00e7o, at 11 am hours, in the Presidential Palace, the laying of a wreath in the sarcophagus of the Founder of the Angolan Nation, Dr. Ant\u00f3nio Agostinho Neto and speaks in Parliament at 4 pm.<\/b><\/p>\n

The statesman Macky Sall arrived yesterday at the end of the afternoon, having been received at the 4 de Fevereiro International Airport by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, T\u00e9te Ant\u00f3nio. The trip to Angola represents an approximation of political and diplomatic ties, with a view to strengthening bilateral cooperation, dominated by various legal instruments and agreements in areas of mutual interest.<\/p>\n

It should be recalled that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported, in a note addressed to the press, that the Republics of Angola and Senegal have developed important mechanisms in the field of strengthening cooperation, allowing the two States to bring together political, economic and diplomatic lines.<\/p>\n

In terms of bilateral cooperation, the two countries have a General Agreement on Technical, Scientific and Economic Cooperation, Agreement on the Creation of the Bilateral Commission, Memorandum on Political Consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Angola and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Senegalese abroad.<\/p>\n

They also have the Agreement for the Suppression of Visas in Diplomatic, Official and Service Passports.<\/p>\n

The Head of State, Jo\u00e3o Louren\u00e7o, and his Senegalese counterpart, Macky Sall, held a meeting with the aim of strengthening cooperation between the two countries, on the sidelines of the inauguration of the Cape Verdean President, Jos\u00e9 Maria Neves.<\/p>\n

The Republic of Senegal is located in West Africa, bordering the Atlantic Ocean to the west, Mauritania to the north and south, Mali to the east, and Guinea and Guinea-Bissau to the south. The country enjoys a profile in many international organizations and was a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council between 1988-1989 and 2015-2016. He was also elected to the United Nations Commission on Human Rights in 1997.<\/p>\n

Senegal has the fourth largest economy in its region and is part of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and is a member of the African Union (AU) and the Community of Sahel-Sahara States, among other organizations.<\/p>\n
