Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The final results of the General Population and Housing Census (RGPH), which took place from September 19 to November 19, 2024, in Angola, will be released in the second half of November of this year, ahead of the initial schedule, which pointed to the end of 2026.<\/b><\/p>\n

This is the assurance from the National Institute of Statistics (INE), which justifies the decision based on the notable progress made in the processing, calculation, analysis, and validation of the Census data.<\/p>\n

In a statement, the INE clarifies that the release of preliminary results, scheduled for the end of this month (September), “will no longer take place,” considering that the new work strategy prioritizes the direct dissemination of final results, thus ensuring more consistent and consolidated information for the general public. INE reaffirms its commitment to quality and technical rigor in the exercise of its functions, fully aligning itself with international best practices, expressed in the Manual of Principles and Recommendations for Population and Housing Censuses and in international recommendations for post-census surveys.<\/p>\n

The population and housing data collection process involved 79,423 field agents, including census takers and supervisors, throughout the country.<\/p>\n

This was the second Population and Housing Census in Angola since achieving National Independence in 1975, the first having been conducted in 2014.<\/p>\n

The first General Population and Housing Census recorded a total of 25,789,240 inhabitants, of which 63 percent lived in urban areas and 37 percent in rural areas.<\/p>\n

The majority of this population was female (13,289,983), representing 52 percent of the total, while the male population, 12,499,041, represented 48 percent. At the time, Luanda, the Angolan capital, was the most populous province, with 6,945,386 inhabitants, representing more than a quarter of the country’s population, followed by the provinces of Hui\u0301la (2,497,422), Benguela (2,231,385), and Huambo (2,019,555).<\/p>\n
