Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Minister of State for Economic Coordination, Jose\u0301 de Lima Massano, stated on Thursday that Expo-Huambo demonstrates the productive vigor of this region of the country, which has established itself as a national example in reducing food insecurity.<\/b><\/p>\n

The minister made the statement at the opening of the 2nd edition of Expo-Huambo, which runs until Sunday under the motto “Connected Business to Diversify the Economy.”<\/p>\n

Jose\u0301 de Lima Massano stated that Huambo is emerging as an unstoppable force in the process of food self-sufficiency, given its growing production capacity for key staples and that this achievement represents a milestone in overcoming Angola’s economic challenges.<\/p>\n

“We are on the right track, but important opportunities remain to be developed, especially in terms of productivity, the logistical structure to support agriculture and livestock farming, and the processing of products, within an already industrial framework, enabling a strong symbiosis between the countryside, industry, and development,” Massano said.<\/p>\n

The minister explained that the project Transforma Aqui represents a solution operationalized by the Agricultural Development Support Fund (FADA). It allocates financial resources and specialized knowledge to increase local industrial processing capacity.<\/p>\n

He noted that this development is not necessarily new to Huambo, as the province already had the second-largest industrial park in the country, with emphasis on food processing, beverage production, and clothing manufacturing units, all with a strong component of domestic raw materials.<\/p>\n

Lobito Corridor<\/b><\/p>\n

He noted that Huambo province is located at the heart of the Lobito Corridor, a structural project that is becoming one of the most important regional integration routes on the African continent.<\/p>\n

According to the minister, this is a development corridor that will allow local producers to connect more quickly and competitively with national and international markets, opening new prospects for the industrial and commercial agricultural sector.<\/p>\n

The minister considered Expo-Huambo a very timely initiative that, on the one hand, will facilitate closer ties and interactions between economic and social development policymakers and producers of goods and services, investors, financiers, and consumers, while on the other, it will contribute to fostering an entrepreneurial spirit, promoting national production, and opening doors for lasting partnerships.<\/p>\n

The event, which opened in the main auditorium of the Manuel Rui Monteiro Cultural Center, featured 257 exhibitors from areas related to agriculture, telecommunications, banking, insurance, transportation, oil and gas, restaurants, and machinery and engines.<\/p>\n
