Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The country’s capital will host, on a date to be announced, a summit that will take care of all the aspects inherent to promoting, in a consistent way, the de-escalation of the reigning tension, at the moment, on the border between the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Rwanda, in order to contribute to the strengthening of peace in the sub-region.<\/b><\/p>\n

The information is contained in a statement from the Presidency of the Republic released this Friday (31), at the end of the meeting that the Head of State, Jo\u00e3o Louren\u00e7o, had with his counterpart from the DRC, F\u00e9lix Tshisekedi, at the Presidential Palace, in Cidade Alta. , to address issues related to the growing tension between that country and Rwanda.<\/p>\n

According to the document, they will attend the future summit, at the invitation of the Angolan statesman, the President of the DRC, F\u00e9lix Tshisekedi, and the President of Rwanda, Paul Kagame.<\/p>\n

The statement also highlights that the President of the Republic held, yesterday afternoon, following the meeting with his counterpart from the DRC, a conversation, by videoconference, with Paul Kagame, during which the same aspects discussed with F\u00e9lix Tshisekedi were discussed. .<\/p>\n

The discussions allowed the two Heads of State to reach an understanding on the holding, in Luanda, on a date to be announced, of the aforementioned summit. The action of the Head of State, Jo\u00e3o Louren\u00e7o, stems from the mandate he received at the recent African Union Summit on Terrorism and Unconstitutional Changes of Government in Africa, held in Malabo, capital of Equatorial Guinea.<\/p>\n

It should be remembered that the Head of State was designated, at the Malabo Summit, “Champion for Reconciliation and Peace in Africa”, in recognition of his commitment to the pacification of the continent, mainly within the scope of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region ( CIRG), where he is currently the acting president of the body.<\/p>\n

The presidency’s communiqu\u00e9 added that, within the framework of the meeting between Jo\u00e3o Louren\u00e7o and F\u00e9lix Tshisekedi, several aspects were discussed that could contribute to the peaceful resolution of the dispute between the DRC and Rwanda.<\/p>\n

F\u00e9lix Tshisekedi agreed, at the request of President Jo\u00e3o Louren\u00e7o, to release two Rwandan soldiers recently captured in the territory of the Democratic Republic of Congo. “This diligence aims to contribute to the reduction of the tension that hangs in the relationship between the two countries”.<\/p>\n

DRC leader F\u00e9lix Tshisekedi, who was, until recently, acting president of the African Union, left the country’s capital late yesterday afternoon.<\/p>\n
