Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>At least 10,500 tons of commercial coffee were produced this year in Angola, thus representing a 40% increase compared to the previous year (2024), according to the National Coffee Institute of Angola (INCA).<\/b><\/p>\n

According to the Director-General of INCA, Vasco Gonc\u0327alves, the country exported 3 million tons of coffee from that quantity.<\/p>\n

Speaking within the framework of the 2nd National Coffee Festival, held from October 28th to 29th of this year in Luanda, the official stated that currently, more coffee producers are emerging in the country, a fact that has contributed to the increase of the production.<\/p>\n

He highlighted that despite this, there is the need to work towards exporting coffee with added value, instead of in the form of raw material.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is necessary that the coffee goes abroad already well-processed, with added value, in the form of different coffee brands\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, Vasco Gonc\u0327alves explained that the National Coffee Festival aims to promote the image of this Angolan product, as well as to encourage producers, exporters, and processors to become more involved, thus further enhancing this activity.<\/p>\n

Aca\u0301cio Lacerda Ju\u0301nior, managing partner of Fazenda Quicunzo, stated that many producers and farmers are currently working to increase coffee production.<\/p>\n

Fazenda Quicunzo is located in the Cuanza-Norte province and has been producing robusta coffee from Cazengo for four years.<\/p>\n

In turn, Sara Costa, official distributor of the Calenga-Huambo Agro-industrial Society (SOACRA), indicated that coffee production in Angola is already significant, and therefore the institution she heads takes advantage of this to produce coffee liqueur.<\/p>\n

Sara Costa also requests that banks provide more financing to large and small farmers, so that they can work harder to increase coffee production, so that there will be more trade and exports of this national product.<\/p>\n

Coffee consumer Euclides de Jesus stated that Angolan coffee is currently one of the best due to its flavor and composition. For this reason, he requests for more coffee production and a reduction in the price of this product.<\/p>\n

Coffee production in Angola is one of the oldest activities in Southern Africa, dating back to the beginning of the 19th century. Despite the decline in production levels seen in recent decades, coffee is still one of Angola’s main agricultural products. However, in 1973 Angola was the third largest coffee producer in the world.<\/p>\n
