Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The development of Angola’s mining sector depends primarily on investments in parallel infrastructure networks, such as roads, electricity and water, the CEO of the National Agency for Mineral Resources, Joa\u0303o Chimuco, said in Luanda.<\/b><\/p>\n

Addressing the topic on the economic impact of mineral exploration projects within the framework of the \u201cMining Summit 2025\u201d, the official acknowledged that the mineral exploration industries face difficulties in accessing electricity and water networks, which makes the process more complex and impacts production costs.<\/p>\n

However, Joa\u0303o Chimuco observed improvements in this regard, pointing to the access road to the Tetelo mine, located in the municipality of Maquela do Zombo, in the province of Ui\u0301ge, as an example to explain the evolution he refers to.<\/p>\n

“Improving access routes between communities and mining areas still represents a challenge. Developing mining activity involves improving support infrastructure, and awareness of this has led to joint work between companies and the government to improve the current situation”.<\/p>\n

From the other perspective, he said that the country has taken significant steps to transform mineral resources into development, a reference to the social responsibility of companies that use profits to finance the construction of schools and hospitals to benefit the communities.<\/p>\n

For him, it is essential that communities benefit from the income of mining companies established in these areas, absorbing gains from the emergence of projects with social and economic impact.<\/p>\n

Joa\u0303o Chimuco \u0301s intervention in the event is part of an agenda that filled the second edition of the “Mining Summit”, a platform for dialogue and consultation on the past, present and future of the mining sector in Angola.<\/p>\n

The meeting brought together representatives from public and private companies, students, university professors, and Angolan and Brazilian authorities, notably Carol Nascimento, who holds a degree in Community Relations, and Ci\u0301cero Terra, who holds a degree in Geostatistics.<\/p>\n
