{"id":97382,"date":"2026-02-16T10:50:29","date_gmt":"2026-02-16T10:50:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/angola\/all-news\/anpg-and-partners-extend-agreement-on-low-carbon-initiatives"},"modified":"2026-02-16T11:25:54","modified_gmt":"2026-02-16T11:25:54","slug":"anpg-and-partners-extend-agreement-on-low-carbon-initiatives","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/angola\/all-news\/anpg-and-partners-extend-agreement-on-low-carbon-initiatives","title":{"rendered":"ANPG and Partners Extend Agreement on Low-Carbon Initiatives"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"ap-article-header-tag\"> <strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Angola. <\/strong> <\/span><b>The National Agency for Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels (ANPG), the National Institute for Environmental Management (INGA) and the oil company Chevron extended the memorandum of understanding on Low Carbon Opportunity in Angola for another two years.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Signed in 2023, the agreement strengthens the collaboration between the parties on the development of low-carbon products and solutions, including biofuels and natural and technological carbon offsets.<\/p>\n<p>According to a statement from ANPG, the cooperation will also include the creation of a Regional Centre of Excellence to attract investment to strategic sectors such as transport, petrochemicals, agriculture and the oceans.<\/p>\n<p>The agreement was signed by Paulino Jero\u0301nimo, Chairman of the ANPG Board of Directors; Simone da Silva, INGA Director-General; and Frank Cassulo, Director-General of Chevron in Angola.<\/p>\n<p>Quoted in the statement, the ANGP official recalled that the agreement emerged from a shared commitment to preparing Angola for a more resilient, sustainable and competitive energy future.<\/p>\n<p>The director-general of INGA, on his turn, stressed that the institute will continue to ensure that low-carbon initiatives effectively contribute to environmental protection, economic development, and the fulfillment of Angola&#8217;s climate priorities.<\/p>\n<p>Chevron\u2019s director-general of Chevron highlighted the progress achieved over the past two years as a result of joint efforts, enabling the oil company to support the Angolan government in developing comprehensive low-carbon legislation.<\/p>\n<p>He mentioned the regulation of carbon offsets and the creation of a voluntary market as essential instruments to enable sustainable projects and attract long-term investments.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ap-article-footer-note\">Find more news and analyses on <span class=\"ap-highlight-country\">Angola<\/span> on the <span class=\"ap-highlight-brand\">Africa Press<\/span> website<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Angola.
