Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Maternal-Infant Hospital “Dr Manuel Pedro Azancot de Menezes”, in Luanda, has carried out more than 305 deliveries, of which 200 are normal and 105 by cesarean section, since its inauguration on the 1st of this month, by the President of the Republic, Jo\u00e3o Louren\u00e7o.<\/b><\/p>\n

According to the director of the Maternal-Infant Hospital “Dr Manuel Pedro Azancot de Menezes\u201d, Manuela Mendes, in the same period, 1,444 consultations were carried out in various ages and specialties.<\/p>\n

The most frequent pathologies on the pediatric side are acute diarrhea and malaria, but in the obstetrics gynecology sector, arterial hypertension is registered, accompanied by its complications such as pre-eclampsia and eclampsia.<\/p>\n

On the occasion, Manuela Mendes, advised women to adhere to anti-hypertensive therapy during pregnancy, resorting to health centers to measure blood pressure and, if detected, treat immediately.<\/p>\n

The hospital unit, equipped with reproduction techniques, has a capacity of 200 beds, comprises three blocks, with clinical emergency services, delivery room, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, physiotherapy and physical rehabilitation and surgery.<\/p>\n

As a differential, he stressed that the hospital has an excellent service of complementary exams, CAT, X-ray, ultrasound, mammography, as well as laboratories for hematology, biochemistry and pathological anatomy, neonatology service for premature and special children.<\/p>\n

The hospital unit is a tertiary level of care, a national reference, with high complexity in maternal, neonatal and child health care, as well as dedicated to teaching excellence and developing research.<\/p>\n

The 10-storey building, three of which are underground, comprises three blocks, with clinical emergency services, a delivery room, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, physiotherapy and physical rehabilitation and surgery.<\/p>\n

Valued at US$179 million, the hospital also has a unit for burns, respiratory therapy, laboratories for clinical analyses, an imaging and radiodiagnosis system, a morgue and a parking lot for 520 vehicles.<\/p>\n
