Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Angolan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Tete Antonio, met with his counterparts from the Republic of Congo and Uruguay in Rio de Janeiro. The goal of these meetings was to strengthen bilateral cooperation and diplomatic coordination in the face of global challenges.<\/b><\/p>\n

The meetings occurred on the sidelines of the 9th Ministerial Meeting of the Zone of Peace and Cooperation of the South Atlantic (ZOPACAS), which took place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on April 8 and 9.<\/p>\n

During the meeting with Congo-Brazzaville’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jean-Claude Gakosso, the diplomats discussed ways to strengthen relations between Angola and Congo-Brazzaville, emphasizing the historical bonds of friendship, fraternity, and solidarity between the two countries.<\/p>\n

The Angolan minister conveyed greetings of friendship, respect, and consideration from President Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o to President Denis Sassou Nguesso of Congo.<\/p>\n

Antonio also met with his Uruguayan counterpart, Mario Israel Lubetkin Tulbovic. They discussed ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation and adapt to current global challenges.<\/p>\n

The main points discussed included increasing trade and investment between Africa and South America, with a focus on agriculture, energy, and the food industry.<\/p>\n

The ministers also discussed the importance of coordinating in multilateral forums, such as the United Nations, to promote joint positions on climate change, food security, and sustainable development.<\/p>\n

The agenda included academic and cultural mobility, as well as the establishment of higher education partnerships, as instruments for strengthening relations between peoples.<\/p>\n

During the meeting, the parties reviewed the current international situation, which is marked by geopolitical tensions and economic challenges. They advocated for deeper dialogue on economic diversification, resilience, and new opportunities for South-South cooperation.<\/p>\n
